I have several clients and I have 2019 and 2020 Version on my laptop. When I try to upload bank transactions to 2019 it automatically opens 2020 and says I can't use bank feeds because my file isn't open (When It actually is open for 2019) HELP

Quickbooks Desktop 2019 and 2020 Bank Uploading

Hi there, @SherriGorbett

Let me share a couple of solutions to get this error resolved and get you back to working order. Let’s back up and restore your file for 2019 to upload your bank transactions.

Here's how to back up your company files automatically:

  1. Go to the File menu, then select Switch to Single-User Mode.
  2. Choose the File menu again and hover over Back up Company, then click on Create Local Backup.
  3. In the window, pick Local Backup, then Next.
  4. In the Local Backup Only section, select Browse and choose where you want to save your backup company file.
  5. Click on Complete Verification.
  6. Pick OK, and then Save it now and schedule future backs, choose Next.
  7. Go to Save backup copy automatically when I close my company file checkbox.
  8. When you're ready, select Finish.

Also, after you've followed the steps above, you can restore your backup company file and here's how:

  1. Select the File menu and go to Restore a backup copy.
  2. Choose Next and click on Local Backup.
  3. Pick Next, locate your company file. It should look like: (You company name).qbb.
  4. Click Open, and then when you're ready, select Save.
  5. That's all for it. Now, you have a new company file you can work from.

After that, close the QuickBooks 2020 version to upload the file. You can view these articles about restoring a backup and what happens after restoring a company file:

Please keep in touch if there's anything else I can do to help you succeed with QuickBooks. I've got your back. Have a great day and keep safe.
