Buy nowI have 2022 Quickbooks Desktop (Mac) and have very little online needs. I don't do payroll or invoicing through QB. I am being prompted to switch to Quickbooks online but prefer to stay on desktop. The only thing I need is to be able to import my bank transactions (qbo file). Will I still be able to do that if I stay on this desktop version. And I don't have to update my desktop version, do I?
Welcome to the Community, ggtwoo.
Importing bank transactions and updates is no longer possible in QuickBooks Desktop 2022, as the software has been discontinued. I recommend upgrading to QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise or QuickBooks Online for better features and improved security.
QuickBooks Desktop 2022 was discontinued on May 31, 2025. As a result, support, updates, and access to certain features such as importing bank transactions are no longer available. This discontinuation applies to all 2022 versions, including QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, Desktop for Mac, and Enterprise Solutions 22.0. To continue using essential features, you may need to upgrade to a newer version or consider switching to QuickBooks Online. For more details on the discontinuation, check out this article: QuickBooks Desktop 2022 service discontinuation policy.
Consider moving your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online for cloud-based access, automatic updates, and enhanced features. QuickBooks offers tools to help migrate your company file while preserving your data. For guidance, refer to this article: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.
