Change the date of a transaction

I'll help you modify the date of your transactions, Ecuevas.

Beforehand, may I know what type of transaction you'd like to edit in QuickBooks Online? It helps us provide accurate steps to fix this.

If you're trying to modify your invoices, please see the steps below:

  1. Go to Sales.
  2. In the Customers tab, click on the customer name.
  3. Select the invoice to open it up.
  4. Update the invoice date (due date).
  5. Click on Save and close.

Just in case, I'm linking an article about receipt terms for future reference: Due date and invoice date do not match when using due on receipt term.

Let me know if you have any follow-ups or other questions. I'll be here to help. I wish you the best.

I've got the steps to edit the bank transaction date, zfunk.

In QuickBooks Online, you can go to the account register to review your transactions or make edits.

To edit the date, here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions and choose Bank transactions.
  2. Click Go to bank register.
  3. Locate the transaction and click the Date column.
  4. Change the date and Hit Save.

Additionally, I'll add this article to help you make quick additions to your account register: Manually add transactions to account registers in QuickBooks Online.

Change the date of a transaction

I appreciate you joining the thread and taking the initiative to perform the steps provided by my colleague, Dee. Let me chime in and help you get this resolved.

If by the Included tab you mean the Categorized tab, please know that changes in the dates in the bank register will not automatically update the Categorized tab. These tabs are separate, and changes made in one will not reflect in the other to ensure accurate records for different purposes.

If you want to make changes to a transaction, you'll want to Undo the transaction first in the Categorized tab.

Here's how:

  1. Select the transaction in the Categorized tab.
  2. Click Undo.

Once undone, the transaction will move back to the For review tab. From there, you can edit the date and Add the transaction again, so it will return to the Categorized tab.

Let me show you how to get this done:

  1. In the For review tab, click first on the mini Gear icon to access the edit date feature.
  2. Check the Editable date field box in the Transaction details section.

  3. Select the transaction and make necessary changes in the Transaction date field.
  4. Click Add

However, if you are referring to something else, could you please give us more details to help us identify the issue and provide you with a tailored and accurate resolution? It would also be helpful if you could provide a screenshot.

If you'd like to make quick additions to your account register, you can refer to this article for more details and information: Manually add transactions to account registers in QuickBooks Online.

You can reply here again if you have more concerns about your transactions in QuickBooks Online. I will be around to help. Best regards.
