Hi, drstewart512. I appreciate you reposting about fixing the discrepancy between your bank and QuickBooks Online account. Helping you determine the cause of the balance discrepancy and resolving this promptly is important to me.

The transactions in your books must match the data shown in your bank statement. Thus, it's nice to start comparing your bank statement with the recorded transactions in QuickBooks.

Just to confirm, did you manually upload any transactions from the bank feed or manually enter payments for your invoices in QuickBooks? If this is the case, you may have already matched or created a payment for the invoice, and when your bank downloads the payment, you accidentally added it from your bank feed. This action can create duplicate data, which can cause a discrepancy in your balance.

To handle this properly, you can follow these steps

  1. Go to the Transactions menu and select Bank transactions
  2. In the Categorized section, review the transactions using your bank statement.
  3.  If you find any duplicates, undo and exclude them. Make sure that you keep the transaction that you want to match with your invoice.

If there are other transactions that should not be included in your reconciliation, make sure to exclude them. If there are transactions that are missing in QuickBooks but are present in your bank statement and should be part in your reconciliation, manually create them in QuickBooks to ensure data accuracy.

Once done, proceed reconciling your account. Note that if you're reconciling your account for the first time, please consider reviewing your opening balance.

On the other hand, if you are attempting to fix the balance from previously reconciled accounts, let's review the discrepancy report to identify any changes that may be causing the balance discrepancy. If there are changes in your previous reconciliation, you may need to renter the correct data and reconcile them again. For the complete steps, you can check this article: Discrepancy reports

Please inform me if you have any further concerns regarding reconciling your accounts in QuickBooks Online. Stay safe and be well!
