I've got the steps to remove your bank account in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @scottyd22517.
Please note that you're unable to remove a bank account linked to QBO. What you can do is disconnect it to prevent QuickBooks from downloading new transactions. Additionally, if you want to connect the account again later, you can re-establish the connection.
Here's how:
- Navigate to Transactions, then Bank transactions.
- Choose the tile for the specific bank account.
- Click the pencil icon, then select Edit account info.
- Check the box that says Disconnect this account on save.
- Hit Save and Close to finish.
On the other hand, if you have an account that's not linked to a bank or credit card and you no longer need it, you make that account inactive in QBO. I'll write down the steps below to get you going:
- Click on the Gear icon, then Chart of accounts.
- Find the account you want to delete.
- Select the Action dropdown and select Make inactive.
For more details, please see this page: Disconnect accounts connected to online banking in QuickBooks Online.
In addition, you can reconcile your other accounts to ensure they match with your bank and credit card statements: Reconcile an account in QBO.
Please return to this post if you have other concerns or follow-up questions about disconnecting bank accounts in QBO. I'll be around to provide further assistance.
