How to change a transaction from a debit to a credit

I uploaded some transactions for a credit card and they appeared as payment instead of charges. There are quite a few. What is the best way to change this? Delete and try again or is there another way to manually do each one?

How to change a transaction from a debit to a credit

I can help you convert your transaction from debit to credit, DecaturInvestor. Let me walk you through the steps.

To begin with, since the transactions are already uploaded to  QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can reverse the entries from debit to credit using the reverse option. However, you have to exclude the transactions and then re-upload.

To exclude, here's how:

  1. Navigate to the Transactions menu, then Bank Transactions.
  2. Locate the account where the transactions are recorded.
  3. Select the Categorized tab and scroll down until you see the specific transactions, then select Undo to bring it back into For Review.
  4. Now, go to the For Review tab and pick the entry you'll want to exclude.

After that, you can re-upload the transactions and reverse them to credit.

  1. Navigate to the Transactions menu, then Bank Transactions.
  2. Click the drop-down arrow next to Link account, and select Upload from file.
  3. You can either drag and drop or select files. Choose the account for the bank file you want to upload and click Continue.
  4. Set up your file and click Continue.
  5. Next, pick Reverse all values and choose the specific transaction you want to upload. Click on Continue.
  6. Once done, Select Yes and then Done.
