I'm getting a notification that I need to contact Quickbooks if my CSV upload with transactions can't be accepted. Well here I am.

How can I get a CSV with transactions uploaded? Not sure how this is so hard.

I'm getting a notification that I need to contact Quickbooks if my CSV upload with transactions can't be accepted. Well here I am.

I've got you covered on how to import your transactions using the CSV file into QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), William.

Each bank formats CSV files differently which means you may not be able to import CSVs from certain banks since files don't have the format QuickBooks needs. Let's make sure the CSV file data is in the correct format before you upload it.

Moreover, if you see an error message when you upload, do the following:

  • Remove any zeros (0) from the file. Leave those cells blank.
  • Correct any transactions that display numbers in the Description column.
  • Make sure the dates are in one format. We recommend you use: dd/mm/yyyy.

Some banks add the day of the week in the Date column (for example, 20/11/2024 TUE). You need to remove the day of the week. To do this, split the date and the day of the week into separate columns:

  1. Open the CSV in Microsoft Excel.
  2. Highlight the column that contains the date.
  3. Go to Data then select Text to Columns.
  4. Follow the onscreen steps and select the following:
    • Original data type: Delimited
    • Delimiters: Space
    • Column data format: General

Once your file is ready, try uploading it to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) again.

  1. Go to the Profile ⚙ icon, then select Imports.
  2. Select Import transactions.
  3. Follow the onscreen steps to upload the CSV file.
  4. Tap Import.

If the same thing happens, we can can log in to your account using an incognito browser. Private browser prevents saving cache and cookies that sometimes cause errors when running frequently visited websites. Here are the useful shortcut keys you can use to access one:

  • Ctrl+ Shift + N for Google Chrome RCV_0-1711534325433.png

  • Ctrl + Shift + P for Mozilla Firefox RCV_1-1711534325446.png

     and Microsoft Edge RCV_2-1711534325429.png

  • Command + Shift + N for Safari RCV_3-1711534325456.png

If it works, return to your default browser and clear its cache. Every so often the cache becomes overwhelmed with older data which can potentially cause viewing and performance issues. Clearing it will refresh the system, and you'll be able to work with a clean slate. Switching to another compatible one to help rectify the issue.
