I exported my quickbooks date from my desktop and now looking to log in to quickbooks online to start using it, how do I bring my data in?

Importing your desktop file to QBO is a breeze. I’ll guide you through the process of how to accomplish this task.


To start, get your company file is ready by updating the desktop program. This is to ensure you’ll get the latest maintenance release.


Please know some information doesn’t come over to QBO. Check out this article for the complete details: What to expect when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.


When you’re ready, let’s go to your QBDT company file and login as the admin for a seamless process. Here’s how:

 

  1. Go to the Company menu at the top to choose Export Company File to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Then, select Start your export.
  3. In your QBO company, sign in as an admin.
  4. If you have inventory in your file, pick the appropriate option.
    *Choose Yes to bring them over and specify the as of date.
    *Select No if you want to set up new items later in QuickBooks Online.export dt.png
    Note: Only QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced can track inventory. It also uses the FIFO method.
  5. Pick the QuickBooks Online company you want to import your data into.
  6. Type “Agree” in the text field and select Replace.
  7. Click Yes, go ahead and replace the data.
  8. Tap the Replace option.
