On the transaction page my business profit is shown as a different number than the home page - why is that?

On the transactions page my profit is shows at Income - Spending = profit. This shows up at $18000. On the home page it gives the income as $28,000 - almost $10,000 more. Why are these numbers different?

 .

Hello there, @Anonymous.

There are factors affecting the Sales graph on the Dashboard and your business Profit. It could be that the date range and accounting method used have caused this to happen.

We can run the Sales by Customer Summary report to review the components of the graph. I'll guide you on how to do it:

  1. Go to Reports from the left menu.
  2. Enter Sales by Customer Summary in the Search box and click it.
  3. Set the Report period to This Month or Last Month.
  4. Hit Run Report.
  5. Click each amount to check its details.

Additionally, ensure the sales items are linked with the correct income accounts by going to the Product and Services list from the Sales menu. Then, click each item to review the Income account. Ensure also that the items associated with the transactions are all recorded sales.

For future reference, you can check out this article to learn more about using report and customizing it to suit your business needs.

Let me know if you have additional concerns. I'll be there to guide you again.

Hi Katherine,

under the reports page I do not have "Sales by Customer Summary".

I am using Quickbooks self employed online.

Let me help and guide you on how to resolve your concern, RRRR1.

As my colleague mentioned, the date range can influence the data displayed on the Transactions and Home pages. Let's make sure the periods are the same so that the information matches. qbse.pngqbse.1.png

We also recommend you compare your graph to the actual data of your financial report to get a better view of your business's financial status. You can read this article to learn more: Export transactions and get reports in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
