When I goto chart of accounts, and then to a bank register, why can I not enter a new transaction? It seems that ability is not there?

Hi there, @dduchad.

Welcome to the Community. I'm here to help you add new transactions to your bank register.

In QuickBooks Online, it's possible to add new transactions to your bank register. You need to manually add them by clicking Add check and choosing the type of transaction you want to add to your bank register.

Let me guide you on how:

  1. Go to your Chart of Accounts.
  2. Choose an account you want to review.
  3. Click on the Add check and select what type of transaction you want to add. 1234.png
  4. Press Save.

If you can't find or see the  Add check feature, I suggest you clear your browser's cache. Clearing your cache will help your browser to run faster and run appropriately. You can use any supported browser to add a new transaction to your bank register.

You can also try logging in to your QuickBooks Account in an incognito or private browser. Here's how:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P
  • Microsoft Edge:  Ctrl Shift N

If by any chance you want to review your transactions and try to edit specific transactions in your Chart of Account, you can visit and read this article: Find, review, and edit transactions in the account history in QuickBooks Online.
