Receipt Snap - Debit Card Recognition

The QuickBooks iPhone Application has a lovely feature called Receipt Snap that allows a user to snap a receipt. This feature is smart enough to scan the receipt, find the last 4 digits of the card used, and match it to the appropriate credit card linked to the QuickBooks Online Account.

I've noticed that when I use this feature, it is only able to appropriately match my credit card transactions. It does not know which account to match my debit card purchases to. How do I get the app to associate the last 4 digits of any of my business debit cards to the business checking account?

Thanks.

I appreciate your feedback with regards to our receipt snap feature, AustinLane1.

Once you've uploaded your receipts, you still need to review them to match the existing transactions. Let me guide you how:

  1. Go to Menu ≡.
  2. Tap Receipt snap.
  3. You can find the receipts and bills that are not in your books yet in the For Review tab.
  4. Review your uploaded receipts and bills.

if ever a transaction is missing, you can check this link on how you can review them: Upload your receipts and bills to QuickBooks Online.

I'm just a post-away if there's anything that I can help with recording payments. Stay safe!

Thanks for the quick response.

I'm familiar with the process you've provided, however it does not answer my question. I understand how to manually correct the missing bank account. Allow me to further explain my question:

The receipt snap feature automatically recognizes my credit card transactions and links it to my credit card account in QuickBooks, as the last four digits of my credit card are also the last four digits of the associated "bank account" in QuickBooks. This however is not true of my checking account, as the last four digits of my debit card are not the same digits as the last four of my checking account number. I assume this is why QuickBooks is unable to automatically match the receipts to this account. Is there any way to correct this?

Receipt Snap - Debit Card Recognition

Hi there, AustinLane1.

Let me share some information about the Receipt Capture feature works.

Since the numbers in your debit card are different from your checking account, QuickBooks is unable to automatically match the receipt to that particular account. In this case, you'll have to manually assign the appropriate bank account for that transaction. Here's how;

  1. Go to the Menu icon.
  2. Select Receipt snap.
  3. Review your uploaded receipts and bills.
  4. Select the receipt or bill to add the bank account details.
  5. Tap Save receipt or Save bill.
  6. Create an expense or bill.

I'm also adding this article to learn how to review, add, or match receipts and bills in the program: Upload your receipts and bills.

You can always find me here if you have any other concerns or follow-up questions. Have a good one.

Thanks for your response. I understand now that you are saying there is not a solution to my question. So be it, though it would be great if Intuit would add this functionality.

Thanks for your support!

I just spent an hour trying to explain this to their "tech support" and they never even understood the question. I can not believe this expensive software does not have a way to link the card number to a bank account. I will have to look into better software because the whole point of this software is to automate this type of thing.

QBO support is hands down the most incompetent, useless waste of time I have ever experienced.  They never answer the question.  I'm starting to think they have AI spit out process instructions based on key words in the questions.
