I'm trying to reconcile my bank statement, however, there are two checks from 2023 that the banks cleared that were not previously cleared - so, not fraudulent. However, these checks are no longer showing up in my list of uncleared checks to clear. So, I can't reconcile the bank statement. THIS IS A NEW CHANGE in QBO just this month. WHY HAS THIS CHANGED? This means I have to figure out yet another workaround to do what should be a BASIC accounting function.
Additionally, when these checks came through the bank feeds, QBO did not allow me to match them to the correct transaction in the register because the "Find a Match" function would not allow for a date range search that went earlier than January 1, 2024.
Banks are habitually cashing checks from 2020, "stale dated" doesn't really exist anymore. QBO needs to allow its users to determine how to handle checks older than whatever arbitrary date their engineers have suddenly decided is the cut off date.
Has anyone else run in to this and how are you handling it? Thank you for any suggestions.
Let's rectify the issue of your missing checks so you can reconcile your bank account, willetteak.
The checks could still be in the For review tab on your QuickBooks account. To allow them to your bank register, you'll need to either add or match them. If there are no matches available, you can add them to the correct categories. Alternatively, you can select the Match radio button in QuickBooks to locate more transactions to match. This will open a new page where you can set the date range before 2024 to find other transactions.
If QuickBooks is unable to find a match, you can exclude the transaction from your bank feeds. You can then manually record a check by following these steps:
This will add the check to your bank registers, allowing you to clear them and proceed with the reconciliation process.

Can you find the checks in the bank account register? I've never seen outstanding, unreconciled checks not show up on the reconciliation screen. There is a filter option on the reconciliation screen so make sure there are no filters restricting the dates of transactions.
Thank you for your reply! Yes, I had deleted all the filters, and they were still missing from the reconciliation screen, so after freaking out about yet another change by QBO engineers I took a deep breath and went searching for the checks themselves... aaaaand found the problem - a team member had posted a JE to void them and then marked them as reconciled outside of a reconciliation process, no notes, no documentation...nothing. 🤦
