We have classes like "Location 1" and "Location 2" for divisions of the company, but also just use the no class assigned for our main company. When there are multiple transactions from the same place, like BestBuy for example, sometimes it needs to go to Location 1, and sometimes it needs to not have a class assigned.
The problem is after assigning Location 1 as the class on the first transaction for BestBuy, the same class is automatically populated in the class dropdown of the second BestBuy transaction. So even if we don't click to expand the transaction to see the details like category and class, the class is selected.
Can we make the class not auto populate?
There is no rule that is assigning the class.
Thanks!

Hi there, Doug.
It's my priority to stop the auto-populate class to transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
The possible reason why the class automatically assign was enabled. To fix this, let's make sure that this feature is disabled to avoid this from happening in the future. Let me show you how:
1. Go to the Banking menu from the left panel.
2. Click the small Gear icon beside Export to Excel.
3. Uncheck Enable suggested categorization.
I've added screenshots for your reference.
Additionally, you can visit this article to help you manage classes in your QBO account: Manage classes in QuickBooks Online.
You can also refer to this article in case you'd like to learn more about tracking transactions by class in QBO: Track your transactions by class.
That should do it! Feel free to send a reply below if you have further concerns about auto-assigning classes in QBO. I'm always here to help.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, this stops the automatic "Class" suggestions, but also stops the automatic "Category" suggestion as well. Can this be separated, to only stop the Class suggestions, but still allow the Category suggestions?
Thanks for the immediate response, @Doug.
Let's send feedback or product recommendations to help improve the features and your experience using QuickBooks Online (QBO).
For the time being, the option to stop the Class suggestions but still allow the Category ones when creating transactions is unavailable in QBO. You may opt to turn off the Automation feature instead. This way, you can stop the system from pre-filling forms with previously entered contents.
I can see how being able to stop the Class suggestions but still allow Category when creating transactions would aid you in managing your income and expense transactions with QBO. With this, I would encourage you to send suggestions or product recommendations. We'll take them as opportunities to improve the various features of our products.
Your valuable feedback will be forwarded and reviewed by our Product Development team and will help improve your experience while using the program. Here's how:
On top of that, I'd also recommend visiting this page to keep you updated with the latest software improvements and enhancements with QBO: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.
Please feel free to leave a comment below if you have other feature concerns or questions about managing transactions in QBO. I'm always ready to help. Take care, @Doug.
