A client recently asked to pay via a bill payment platform of their choosing and I had to connect my business bank account to the platform.
When I connected the account, the platform made a micro test deposit of 0.01 to my bank account to verify my details.
Everything was fine, but now they haven't reversed the deposit or deducted the 0.01 from my account so my QBO is showing the deposit of 0.01. What do I do with it so it doesn't look like income.
I would give it 3-5 days to reverse the deposit, if it has already been that long, there may be a connection issue, you may want to contact the app/platform. I wouldn't worry about .01 on your income, you can label it category "bank fees" and it will just credit that category.
It should also be automatically reversed within a specific timeframe, @cjd1111. Allow me to share a couple of scenarios and solutions to handle the test deposits accurately.
Have you reviewed your bank statements regarding these test deposits? In some cases, the amount is deducted from your bank account before it appears in your account. Otherwise, it should be reversed within 3–5 business days from the time of deposit.
If it has been more than 5 business days and your bank statement includes both deposit and withdrawal transactions, you can manually download your transactions and categorize them accordingly.
Here's how:
You can contact your bank's support team if it still doesn't work.
If it is not recorded in your bank statement, simply allow the transactions to download into QBO and exclude them so they don't affect your bank balance.
