Buy nowWe rely heavily on the bank memo transferring from the Bank transactions to QB for income audit. We use Square and the memo includes the Square code for the 26 stores depositing credit card transaction into the bank every day. Multiple times a month, the bank feed deposits come over with no memo. This requires us to manually copy and paste the bank memo into each transaction to know which store it belongs to allowing us to reconcile it with the income audit posting.
Why is this interface so fickle? How can we get it fixed. For example, I just synced with the bank and 45 deposits transferred to the bank feed and they all say "Square" in the memo, but should say "
Good afternoon, @TS Delaney.
It's great to see you back in the Community!
To fix missing memo details on Square deposits in QBO, you can either update your settings in the Square app integration or disconnect and reconnect the app. In the meantime, you can manually categorize the bank feed transactions and use bank rules to improve auto-categorization for future deposits.

Hi @Candice C we aren't using the Square app. We are posting income audit manually with Square reports and reconciling the transactions with the bank deposits in a clearing account.
The issue is that the bank feed isn't transferring from the bank to QB consistently. 75% of the time the bank memo comes over perfectly. We are trying to understand why the other 25% of the time there is no memo. We rely on the memo for the automatic coding in QB and then for the reconciliation process on the balance sheet.
Why is the bank memo not transferring from the bank to QB 25% of the time?
We appreciate your time getting back to this thread with clarification, TS.
Please know that QuickBooks Online (QBO) is a receiving platform that relies on the information provided by your bank.
We suggest contacting your Financial Institution (FI) about the transactions without memos that appear in your QBO bank feeds. You can request that they provide complete information, especially the memos, as you rely on them for income auditing.
In the meantime, you can continue manually editing those transactions that show "Square" in the Memo field during categorization to correct them while waiting for a resolution from your bank.
