Help has arrived, @toddhellmann.

For entries that need to fall under the right scope, you’ll want to make sure your accounting preference set up is updated to your new bank account.

You can view and edit your current payroll preferences by following the steps below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Payroll Settings.
  2. Click Preferences, then hit Accounting Preferences.
  3. Select the new bank account, then save it.

You can also reach out to the Gusto Support team to ensure the affected account will setup correctly.

You can check this article that tackles how to set up payroll account preferences. This provides information where you can add, edit, and manage employees in QuickBooks.

Don't hesitate to get back if you have other banking concerns. I’m always here to help. Keep safe.

Thanks for the reply. We have QB Essentials online. When I go to the gear icon, it does not show an options for Payroll settings. And when I spotlight search for Payroll Settings I get an error message that says I don't have access rights to view this data.

I'd be happy to change the posting account for your payroll transactions, toddhellmann.

All third-party applications (non-intuit) will no longer have access to their software. Since you're using Gusto for payroll, I'd suggest getting in touch with the Gusto Support Team.

They can provide you the detailed steps on how to change the old bank to the new posting account for your payroll transactions.

Once changed, you can edit the payroll journal or create a journal entry to transfer the amounts manually.

However, using this method (journal entry) needs the assistance of an accounting professional for the accounts you need to use. Also, your accountant can help and guide you on which account to debit and credit.

Here's how to enter a journal entry:

  1. Select + New.
  2. Select Journal Entry.
  3. Fill out the fields to create your journal entry.
  4. Select Save and close.

You can visit this link: Set up Payroll account preferences. This will provide you more information on how to manage your payroll preferences in QuickBooks Online.

Kindly update me on how things go by adding another comment below. I want to make sure you're all set, and I'm here if you need further guidance. Have a great day! All the best.
