Valuable info

I am going to give the community and developers some very valuable information that no one seems to know.

I was lately having big problems with QBO advanced and regular QBO too.

It turns out that many of the problems I was having was because of formatting issues. QBO often wants the dates in a certain way and they will not work unless it is exactly as QB wants it. So if it wants 06/03/22, then 6/03/22 will not work. The same is also true for categories. It might look like it will work, but it needs to be exact and sometimes it does not even show it the way it wants it. Your stuff for imports will get rejected and you will not even realize why. Quickbooks will also want the date in different ways in different places, so they really really need to get their act together and fix these bugs so that normal date formats and categories will work every time.

Why I know this and QB does not is beyond me. But it is what it is.

Thank you so much for your input, @NatDH.

Can you clarify what you're trying to upload into QuickBooks Online? I tried importing bank transactions and used the M/DD/YY date format. In my case, it did work for me. However, we recommend you use DD/MM/YYYY. You can refer to this link: Format CSV files in Excel.

I understand that some banks use different formats. It would be a great help to have more flexibility with the import option. I'll relay this message to our team in concern here on my end and add your vote for this one. You can also share your thoughts and ideas through your account. Our product development team reviews all the feedback we receive to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our customers.

Here's how:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.

The M/DD/YYYY format will work when QBO calls for that, which it does in some cases. But in QBO advanced Batch transactions, it calls for MM/DD/YYYY, and the other format does not work, which almost no one will know why.

This is not the only problem.

I also had file to bank import problems because of the same date issue.

I also had sales invoices rejected because the product can say "sales" when internally, it really has it as something else.

QB needs to be consistent on all these things and fix these bugs, because people will not know why these things are not working.
