You may need a 3rd party app to import the data. Which file format you can get? e.g *.pdf, *.csv, *.qbo ?
I’m here to share some insights about importing credit card charges from Discover to QuickBooks Desktop, argylian19.
QuickBooks downloads the credit card transactions based on the data provided by Discover. Since they discontinued the service to QuickBooks and Quicken, you'll want to check for a third-party application that can help you with this one. You can check out the apps that are compatible with QuickBooks at this link: QuickBooks Desktop App Center. Just to enter a keyword in the search bar or browse through the categories to filter the results.
Also, you can download a file (.QBO) with your company's transactions from your credit card. Then you import that file to QuickBooks to add those transactions to your accounts. If Discover offers Web Connect, just follow the steps below:
Then, to ensure your transactions are accurately categorized, you have to carefully review and match them. For the detailed steps, please see this article: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop. Feel free to visit our Banking page for more insights about managing your bank feeds and reconciling accounts.
As always, feel free to post again here if you have any further concerns about importing your credit card transactions to QuickBooks. I'm always here to help you. Thanks for dropping by.
I had the same question and now have another: how do I download a file with the .QBO extension? Currently I have 3 options: save as PDF; Excel; CSV. I do not know how to proceed from there. Thank you.
Good evening, @Breesgal.
Thanks for chiming in on this thread about downloading credit card transactions.
The question you asked would be better answered by your credit card/bank to see if you can download the transactions to the file type.
If not, you should be able to convert a CSV to a .QBO file. Here's a guide that provides more information about importing and exporting data in QuickBooks Desktop.
I hope this helps. I'm only a post away if you have any trouble. Have a wonderful day!
You can utilize a 3rd party converter tool. e.g pdf2qbo or csv2qbo. It costs $60 (one time).

Hi and thank you for your reply. I checked it out and it is not a one-time $60 fee - more like several hundred. Am I looking at the correct one? That's pretty steep.
Not sure if you found a solution to the issue that Discover and Intuit are not playing nice with each other. In the mean time you can download discover transactions as excel or csv save outside of QB's. Open your QB's, click on Accountant, click on Batch Enter Transactions. This will bring up a box that you choose the Transaction Type-(credit card) and choose the account you need to put these transactions in QB's. Now open you downloaded file excel or csv. You will highlight each column (date, payee and amount). You will need to make sure account is correct and add any memo you need. Review to double check and then Save Transactions button on the bottom of that box. I know this is not quick like just downloading but it's better than key entering each transactions like old days.
Hope that helps some of you out there still dealing with this mess. I just wish Intuit would stop being such a bully and more willing to work with us all. They are trying to make us all go with QB's online. That does not work for our business.
