I'd like to add some information regarding the processing fee for customers' payments in QuickBooks Online (QBO). 

 

When accepting electronic customer payments for online invoices, QuickBooks Payments or Merchant Service charges a fee each time you process a transaction. The cost will depend on how the payment is processed.

Many merchant accounts are now charging these fees directly to the paying customer.  Is there a way we can set this up so I don't have to pay for these fees if the customer decides to pay with a credit card?

To include credit card processing fees in your invoice, you can add a service item manually during invoice creation. Knowing the exact fee amount is essential to have it in your invoices accurately. This will help you stay informed about the charges and enable you to pass them on to your customers.

 

Here's how to create a service item:

 

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under the column LISTS, select Product and services.
  3. Click New, then choose Service.
  4. Enter a name for this service item. In your case, you can name it "CC charge".
  5. Select an account you want to track this fee.
  6. Click Save and close.

 

After receiving payment for an invoice, recording the payment to track and balance your accounts is necessary.
