When trying to connect two different bank accounts from the same account, one is made inactive whenever the other is connected, and vice-versa. Is there a fix to this?

I reached out to QuickBook Self Employed help chat and they never responded to me with any solution from the engineering department, which they said they would. My question is related to the exact same issue as is explained in the following QBSE help forum thread:

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/reports-and-accounting/how-can-i-connect-separate-...

The author of that thread claims they removed their bank from Quickbooks Self Employed entirely and lost all their transaction data, then after reconnecting to that bank both of their accounts at that bank successfully connected. I do not have the time to recategorize all my transactions from my particular bank for the past several years.. Quickbooks has not provided a solution to this error and I do not consider the way the author of that forum post worked around it to be a practical solution. Please help.

Thanks for laying out the details of your concern, @PeakwalkerPDX.

I'll provide additional insights about this bank connection issue in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Thank you for finding a thread related to your concern. However, before proceeding with the solution provided in the thread, please ensure that the banks you want to connect to have different login credentials.

If the same login credentials are used for both accounts, the system will consider them as a single account. This will result in one account being connected, and the other being inactive. Therefore, you need to provide different sign-in credentials for each account you want to connect to the system.

You can visit this article for more in-depth information about adding your bank and credit card accounts: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Once settled, you can now organize your transactions by checking out these resources:

Keep me posted if you still have questions or concerns about your transactions in QBSE. I'll be around for you. Take care always.

When trying to connect two different bank accounts from the same account, one is made inactive whenever the other is connected, and vice-versa. Is there a fix to this?

Both accounts are under the same bank, with their own different login credentials. If I connect one account the other account is made inactive. If I try to connect the inactive account, the previous account I linked is then made inactive. If you read the forum post I linked to, it is the exact same issue. That poster found their own solution, which isn't actually a solution at all since it removed all their transaction data.

No one at Quickbooks seems to care to address this glitch since as I explained in my original post, I went through an entire help chat only to never receive any help or solution.

When trying to connect two different bank accounts from the same account, one is made inactive whenever the other is connected, and vice-versa. Is there a fix to this?

The two accounts I am trying to link are with the same bank and each has their own unique login credentials. If I connect one account to QuickBooks the other account is disconnected and shown as inactive and when I go to connect the inactive account the previous account that I already connected is then disconnected and shown as inactive.

This is the third time I have had to describe this issue, with no solution provided.: once in a help chat that was supposedly deferred to engineering and provided no response nor solution, once in my original post, and it was described in detail in the post I linked to. No one at Quickbooks seems interested in actually solving this glitch, because the help representatives either leave the issue unresolved or present bogus solutions that ignore the details of the problem.

It isn't the kind of experience I'd like you to have, @PeakwalkerPDX.

I'm here to help you connect your two bank accounts under the same bank to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Before doing so, I would like to know your bank's name to check if we have received reports about the same issue. Also, did you encounter any error message or code while connecting your bank account?

I would also like to know how you connect the bank. Did you connect them as two different bank accounts in QuickBooks Self-Employed?

In the meantime, I recommend logging in to your QuickBooks Self-Employed account and connect your bank accounts using a private browser. It's a good idea to check for issues brought on by a full cache when browsing anonymously because doing so prevents the cache from recording your browsing data. You may also try to use other browsers.

  • Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox: Press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Press Command + Shift + N

If the steps above will not work, you can use supported browsers as an alternative.

For future reference, you can read this article to help you categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Don't hesitate to click the Reply button below to add more information about your concern in connecting bank accounts to QuickBooks Self-Employed. I'm always here to help. Have a great day.

When trying to connect two different bank accounts from the same account, one is made inactive whenever the other is connected, and vice-versa. Is there a fix to this?

The bank is Chase. I have tried connecting my two accounts with Chase bank from the "Manage Accounts" page and the "Connect Bank" page. Neither method works. When one Chase account successfully connects to Quickbooks the second Chase account is disconnected. When the disconnected Chase account is connected again, the first connected Chase account is disconnected. There are no error messages or codes shown.

I am using Chrome. I tried using a private browsing window and a Safari. Neither of those worked.

Listen, I need a working solution to this problem. As I have stated previously, I do not have time to delete Chase from my connected accounts in the hopes of reconnecting it so that both accounts maybe successfully connect and then have to recategorize years of transaction data. As I also stated previously, I spent a long time on a chat with a help representative from Quickbooks who claimed they would be sending this problem to the engineering department and that I would receive an email with a solution which I never did. The case number for that help conversation is: [removed]. The Investigation number for the engineering help ticket is: INV-100092.

Do you understand I need a solution here? This is a real problem with Quickbooks Self Employed that other users are also complaining about and Quickbooks has responded with no working solution.

When trying to connect two different bank accounts from the same account, one is made inactive whenever the other is connected, and vice-versa. Is there a fix to this?

As I already stated in this thread, both separate accounts have their own unique login credentials. I just wasted my time adding another authorized user to one of these accounts in the rare chance your suggestion were to work for some reason. IT DID NOT WORK. I also made clear in this thread that I have already contacted the technical support team and they claimed this issue would be escalated to the engineering team and I would receive an email with a solution and that has never happened. I even included the numbers for both that support chat conversation and the engineering support ticket in my last post.

So if I understand correctly, you have suggested I do two things that I have already done and explained having done in this very thread. Meaning, Quickbooks is refusing to solve this issue and instead sending users in circles with no actual help. Incredible.

When trying to connect two different bank accounts from the same account, one is made inactive whenever the other is connected, and vice-versa. Is there a fix to this?

Look this is has become ridiculous. Every solution suggested in this thread has neglected to take into account a of detail I already mentioned in my initial post, because I knew they were not the cause of the issue from calling technical support in the first place. CAN SOMEONE AT QUICKBOOKS PLEASE TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED TO THE ENGINEERING SUPPORT TICKET THAT WAS CREATED IN RESPONSE TO THIS PROBLEM, INVESTIGATION NUMBER: INV-100092

I should not have to contact Quickbooks technical support again. I already did that and received no response after this issue was escalated to the engineering team with it's own support ticket created by the tech support agent for this case, case number: [removed]. Why have solutions been suggested that try and address these details I have clarified in my first post are not issues and why has it been suggested to contact technical support when I also stated I already had in the first post?

The tax deadline for 2024 is quickly approaching and I am unable to do my accounting because Quickbooks is unable to link to two separate bank accounts with Chase bank, with two unique login credentials for each account, regardless of what browser, either private or supported by Quickbooks. That is unacceptable for an accounting software and why Quickbooks is not able to easily provide a solution to the issue is bewildering.

When trying to connect two different bank accounts from the same account, one is made inactive whenever the other is connected, and vice-versa. Is there a fix to this?

I understand how important it is to be able to link two separate bank accounts with Chase Bank, Peakwalker.

Aside from this, I can see that you've already contacted our support team multiple times. Please know that our engineers are working to get this fixed as soon as possible. Once everything is working fine, you'll receive an update when your issue has been resolved.

Since this issue is already escalated and a ticket has already been created, you'll have to reach out to our support team again so you'll be able to double-check for the updates. They have the tools to securely pull up your account in a secure environment which we're unable to do here in the Community.

In the meantime, since the tax deadline is fast approaching, you can add transactions manually from a CSV file, and then import them to QuickBooks Self-Employed

Also, please know that once you're already added as one of the affected users with this investigation, you'll receive a notification once the issue is fixed. Rest assured that our product team is working to get this fixed as soon as possible.

In addition, learn how QuickBooks puts your transactions to the correct Schedule C. To know more, go through this article for reference:  Categorize Transactions In QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions when linking bank accounts. I'm always right here to assist.
