I am missing transactions from august to october 2023- and I tried to export the banking information to my quickbooks via csv file, I keep getting an error that the files detected are duplicates but they aren't- I'm only downloading the transactions during the timeframe needed. How can I import these transactions without having to do it manually one by one ?
Thanks for posting here in Community space, HApotheke. I'd be glad to address your concern related to QuickBooks.
For me to give an accurate response, may I ask what specific error message you've received and the exact bank you're trying to get the information from? Any additional information will be highly appreciated.
I'll keep an eye out for your response. Take care.
So I was able to transfer the transactions I needed to into my account- but they were all wrong and showed up as income instead of withdrawals or purchases.
Now my problem is permanently deleting all of the transactions so I can manually add them in, or finding out how to import them correctly since I can't edit whether the transaction is income or a purchase. I have all of the transactions excluded, but I want them completely gone so I have no issues with my financial reports.
Thank you!
*I wrote a reply but it didn't show that it posted- so I'm posting another just in case its gone*
I was able to import the transactions I needed after looking at another post and what format I needed to import them. However when I imported the transactions, they were incorrect. They posted as income instead of purchases/withdrawals. I tried to edit them to correctly reflect whether they were purchases or income but I couldn't change the values (+/-). So then I tried to delete them, which also I could not do.
I need to know how to either:
Delete these imported transactions to manually add them in one by one- not preferred
Delete these imported transactions and import them to reflect correct values.
Thank you!
Importing an accurate format of your transactions is necessary to keep your books accurate, HApotheke. I'm here to help you delete the incorrect one and add the entries with the correct values.
Upon checking, it seems like you've selected two products when posting your concern here in the Community space. Since I can't verify which one you're currently using, I'll be sharing the steps for both platforms.
If you're using QuickBooks Online (QBO), please follow the steps below to delete the imported data. Beforehand, verify if everything is excluded:
Once confirmed, they will show up in the Excluded tab. From there, we can delete them. Here's how:
After that, we can now import the correct file. In this process, you don't need to do it one at a time. It'll be in bulk instead. Before proceeding, make sure the Debit and Credit columns are placed properly. This way, the spent and income will show accurately in the For review tab. I recommend browsing our CSV format article as a guide to avoid any issues.
When the file is formatted correctly, re-upload them in QBO.
In the event you're using the QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) version, follow the instructions below to delete them:
Please note that you can only delete transactions that you have added manually. If downloaded from your bank, we can exclude them instead. For visual reference, I've added a screenshot below.
Once done, review and fix the format of the CSV. Then, add them to QBSE again.
If the purchases still show income after re-importing, please reach out to our QuickBooks Support Team, as they may need to investigate further to identify the root cause of the issue and provide additional resolution. I'm using Quickbooks Self employed- I don't see an option to delete the transaction, only to exclude it or add to personal/business.
We appreciate you getting back in the thread, HApotheke.
Let me add information about removing transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
Please note that you can only delete manually uploaded transactions into the system. Bank transactions downloaded directly from your bank can only be excluded, which will no longer be part of your tax calculations or financial reports.
