Why are two different transactions there after scanning in receipts, QuickBooks is subtracting for each scanned transition twice?

I believe it is adding a second transaction to my bank register (it's really negative) for each scanned receipt. I found how to match under receipts, but don't see how to get rid of the extra transaction created by scanning in the receipt.

Save time tracking and recording your receipts in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Scot. I can help you resolve any issues with duplicate receipts.

Once your bank is connected to online banking, QBO monitors your downloaded transactions and attempts to match them with receipts. If no match is found, a new transaction is created from the receipt, leading to duplicates. To resolve this, exclude either the scanned receipts or the bank transactions to prevent duplication in your account.

Here's how:

  1. Choose the Transactions tab.
  2. Select on Bank Transactions
  3. Find the transaction you want to exclude in the For Review section and check the checkbox.
  4. Click  Exclude, then select the Excluded tab.
  5. Check the checkbox to select Delete to remove the receipt transaction.

Afterward, categorize your transactions by following the step-by-step instructions in the article: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Online. This guide also includes how to edit and recategorize transactions.

In addition, check this article to attach receipts to your existing transactions: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any more questions about your receipts and bank transactions in QBO, feel free to ask. I'm here to help. Take care!
