WHY DOES IT GIVE ME THE ERROR THAT I NEED TO SELECT A BANK ACCOUNT FOR THIS DEPOSIT WHEN BY BANK NAME APPEARS IN THE ACCOUNT BOX

@trish65534  Unless you provide an image of what you're seeing, my best guess is as follows:

In the Make Deposit section, there are two places you can select a bank account.

The first is a box for the bank account that you are depositing money into.

The second is a column labelled something like 'From Account'.

The 'From Account' column is where you designate the source of the funds. This could be anything from an income source to a loan to another bank account.

If you are using this 'From Account' column, there's your problem. That only says where the money is coming from. You need to use the first box, noted above, to say where the money is going to.

WHY DOES IT GIVE ME THE ERROR THAT I NEED TO SELECT A BANK ACCOUNT FOR THIS DEPOSIT WHEN BY BANK NAME APPEARS IN THE ACCOUNT BOX

Hi there, @trish65534.

I agree with, @FishingForAnswers. I'll further explain specific areas of deposit transactions when creating one in QuickBooks Online (QBO). This way, we can determine why you're seeing the error and how to fix it.

Before anything else, I'd like to clarify whether the Account box you mean is the Account section from the Add funds to this deposit area. If so, this section selects the income/expenses account credited for the deposit and reflects the source of the income/expenses.

On the other hand, the error refers to adding the Account in the upper-left corner of the transaction window. It indicates the bank account where the funds will be deposited, showing which bank account will receive the money.

If you have correctly entered the accounts in their designated sections, we can perform browser troubleshooting to eliminate common issues that prevent the application from recognizing your bank account. Use the steps below to access these features in a private window:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Once you're done, return to your regular browser and clear the cache and cookies to help prevent similar issues in the future. Additionally, you might consider using other supported browsers for a better experience.

Then, start reconciling your accounts to keep your books balanced and avoid possible discrepancies.

I’ll keep this thread open for your concerns and other queries managing deposits, @trish65534. I’m just a post away to guide you. Stay safe!
