Will bringing over my shopify from the beginning of the year mess up everything that I categorized/ confirmed and reconciled?

Hello, Justin.

Let me offer guidance to make your records accurate to avoid confusion in linking your Shopify to QuickBooks Online.

To ensure a smooth process, I recommend importing your Shopify transactions starting from today's date. This approach will help you avoid potential issues. If you identify any duplicates during the import, you can easily match them to maintain the accuracy of your records.

For more information on linking your Shopify account to QuickBooks, please refer to this helpful article: Shopify for QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, to assist you in managing and categorizing your transactions effectively, check out this resource: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If you have any further questions about managing your Shopify transactions in QBO, please feel free to reach out. We're here to help you anytime.

I synced the two together and it matched up the transactions (deposits in my checking account) now I have a Shopify order that I received by Venmo for payment. I made the sales order and the expense for the fees like Shopify stats to do but now I don’t see a way to match the two together the deposit j got to my checking account

QuickBooks automatically brings in your sales orders and payouts from your Shopify store to QBO, Jd candle.

However, I have a couple of questions to ensure we provide the right troubleshooting steps. Can you confirm whether transactions are not being imported automatically, requiring you to record them manually in QBO? Additionally, can you walk us through how the fees were added?

Your insights on these questions will help us understand the situation. In the meantime, let me share this article in case you want to sync your sales channel through QuickBooks Commerce: Connect a sales channel with Commerce in QuickBooks Online.

We look forward to your reply so we can identify the most effective solution to your concern. We appreciate your patience as we work together to resolve this issue.

I was manually recording my banking transactions from Shopify payments I received. I just synced Shopify to quick books and all the matches came through so I approved them. I have a transaction on my banking for say for $500 from Venmo, it isn’t syncing to Shopify on QB bc it’s a 3rd party so I manually added a receipt and expense for that transaction and it won’t match up to bank deposited amount

Let's team up to help you to sync transactions to the apps you've integrated inside your QuickBooks Online (QBO) and ensure they get matched, Jd.

First off, I'd like to confirm if the $500 transaction is inside the Bank Transaction page in your QBO company file. If so, you'll want to match it with the receipt and expense that you manually added into your account. We'll outline the steps to get you going:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the left navigational bar, click the Transactions tab and select Bank Transactions.
  3. Locate the transaction and then click on it.
  4. Toggle the Radio button beside Match. Look for transactions you manually entered and then click the Checkbox.
  5. When you're ready, click the Match button.

In case you're unable to match it, these are the possible reason:

  • The amounts or dates don’t match.
  • The transaction is older than 6 months.
  • The bank account on the payment isn't the same as the bank where the match is located.
  • The payment has been reconciled.
  • The record is already matched to another transaction.
  • The system will look for transaction(s) that fall within a 10% range of the bank transaction dollar amount when trying to match foreign currencies.
  • There are multiple currencies involved, and the exchange rate has shifted significantly, making the amounts very different.

I recommend checking this article to help you resolve this and ensure your transactions gets matched inside the system: Match Online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Moreover, I'm adding this article to about reconciling an account inside QBO: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
