They removed it. It's part of the new more modern invoice roll out. Sure, they have far less functionality, but hey, they're modern! Intuit is sure you'll like them.
Hi there, ted. This isn’t the kind of expression that we want you to feel in adding bulk transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
I recognize the importance of having this feature to easily add them to your invoices. You’re right that currently, QuickBooks only allows you to add billable time one by one. While considering this option to be included in the application’s future enhancements, I recommend sending this suggestion to our product development team:
As a workaround, you can opt to switch your invoice layout to the classic one. Switching it back to the old layout varies according to what version you’re using. If you’re under a Simple Start and Essentials subscription, the option to revert it is no longer available. For QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced, you can follow these instructions to start:
Moreover, I added an article that you can refer to in recording invoice payments once you receive the actual payment for this one. I have an article here where you can refer to keep your records accurate: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.
While considering your feedback, let me know if you have more concerns about managing your sales transactions. I’m just a post away to guide you. Have a good one!
RE: This isn’t the kind of expression that we want you to feel in adding bulk transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
The kind of expression? Huh?
Well, your customers mostly all feel this kind of expression when trying to add transactions using the new "modern" invoices because that is what Intuit build. So, it actually is the kind of expression customers are most all feeling.
RE: I recognize the importance of having this feature to easily add them to your invoices.
Well, that's just great! It's too bad your designers and engineers didn't recognize it before they foisted the new "modern" invoices on Intuit's customers.
I do appreciate you getting back to me in a timely fashion to confirm that I wasn't missing something and thanks for the workarounds. I just wish I didn't have to work around this to get the new design improvements at the same time.
The ability to quickly add suggested transactions to the new invoices is a critical feature that creates a significant additional time processing burden on users. I will use your recommendation to suggest this feature be added quickly.
I find it hard to believe that many other users are also time burdened by this oversight by Quickbooks when they did the update.
Agree with the other comments. I'm in a situation where I have to add 50-100 "suggested" billable expenses to an invoice at a time. What happens is that the time it takes to add an expense to the invoice gets slower and slower (often 5-10 seconds per transaction). Frequently, the system will crash in the middle of doing this. I have to start over - which means from the very beginning. None of the expenses already added are actually saved when this happens.
What is needed is a checkbox column (like the one on the reconciliation screen) where I can select the billable expense by ticking the box (or, even better, "select all", then de-select any I don't want to add). Then the system can process this information in bulk instead of one by one, which would probably be less likely to cause a crash.
Hello, @Metier.
I can hear your sentiments about the slow and unreliable process of adding multiple billable expenses to invoices on QBO.
Since the system becomes slower and crashes when a large number of expenses are added, let's troubleshoot if the problem is caused by excessive browser data. It could be affecting the performance of QBO, leading to unusual behavior in the system. To confirm, please open your QBO account using a private browsing window.
Kindly refer to the keyboard shortcut keys below to proceed:
After opening QBO in a private window, let them try to edit the transaction. If the update is successful, clear your regular browser's cache and cookies. You can also utilize other supported browsers.
Moreover, for now, your suggestion to have a checkbox column for selecting multiple billable expenses at once and processing them in bulk is unavailable. I highly recommend submitting your feedback directly to our product engineers so they can analyze it and include this feature in future updates.
