Ability to enter Markup - Dollar amount or % in Estimates

This seems like a basic business tool, yet QBO does not seem to have it.

When I am putting together an Estimate for a customer, I need to put in the Cost (my subs bid number); then markup the bid up (either a dollar amount or by a percentage) which would then calculate the Customer's Estimate amount.

Instead, I have had to create a spreadsheet that does this, then I take the Estimate Amount of each transaction linie and manually enter this into QBO.

It is great that I can do a dollar amount or percentage on my invoicing, but frustrating and time consuming that it doesn't exist on the Estimate side.

I have seen posts about this from 2018.

Has anybode seen any updates from QuickBooks on this?

Ability to enter Markup - Dollar amount or % in Estimates

Adding a markup percent or amount to your estimates is crucial in tracking the accurate pricing of your items and services, @DB2Contractors. I'll share an update about this feature.

I appreciate you for sharing the workaround you're doing to enter the markup amount in your estimates.

Currently, the feature is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Rest assured that the Product Development Team is constantly enhancing the program. They continue introducing new features, interfaces, or other improvements to cater to the users' business needs.

For now, I suggest performing the workaround steps you've shared. It is also beneficial to other users who are looking for a way to utilize the markup feature.

I also encourage sharing your request about having this functionality while working on your estimates. You can follow the steps on how to submit it:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
  2. Type in your suggestions about adding the markup feature on estimates.
  3. Then, submit your request.

You can track submitted ideas through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests page.

Aside from that, you can always stay up-to-date with the latest news about product enhancements by visiting Intuit's Product Updates website.

Additionally, I've added an article to guide you in creating an invoice based on the estimate after your customer accepts it. It ensures both entries are linked to avoid duplicates: Convert an estimate into an invoice in QuickBooks Online.

I'm always ready to help if you still have other questions about creating estimates and converting them to invoices. You can reply to this thread or start a new one to let me know.
