Correct Barcode Printer

Hi, Can Someone help me finding a right barcode printer for QB Desktop Enterprise? I need to print smallest possible barcode. We need to print hundreds and thousands of barcode so cost will be a factor. Avery template/label will be way too costly for us. Any solutions? Thanks in advance.

Hello, white1.

I understand that you need a compatible printer to print the barcode perfectly. I'm here and I'll make sure to get this done.

Let's check your barcode first. Although we're unable to suggest a specific one, we just need to make sure that it is compatible with QuickBooks Desktop. These are the things you need to consider:

  • Scanner must support EAN-13 and Code-128 barcodes
  • Scanner can produce a single carriage return at the end of the barcode

You can check more details here: Set up and use barcode scanning in QuickBooks Desktop

Also, you'll want to check for a third-party application that can help you with this one. You can check out the apps that are compatible with QuickBooks at this link: Apps for QuickBooks Desktop.

In addition, I added these articles for more details on how to set up your barcode scanner and barcodes, how to update the existing ones, and how to fix printing issues:

In case you'll need further assistance, feel free to leave a message in the comment section. I'll be happier to help. Have a good one!

I think you misunderstood. I'm asking about the printer NOT scanner.

Hi, white1.

I understand you need assistance finding the right barcode printer and printing the shortest barcode. There are plenty of barcode printers available on the market today. Each printer is designed to meet the unique needs of the user. As a result, endorsing one in the Community isn't possible.

If you're having issues enabling or using the barcode feature, please let us know. We can help you with that. Also, you can consider looking for a third-party app as my colleague suggested above using this link: Apps for QuickBooks Desktop. Here you may find an app capable of generating a smaller barcode.

Additionally, you can visit this article to learn how to resolve a printing issue in the future: Troubleshoot tag printer issues.

Keep me posted if you have any other printing concerns. I'm always here to help.

@white1

How about Brother QL-810W?

You will need an inventory management app to integrate with QB Desktop and use it.

Thank you. I ended up getting a Zebra ZSB printer and it works. However, it doesn’t line up correctly on the label. It prints on lower 1/3 of the label instead in the middle. I’ve tried all label format at printing setting (mostly are Avery label format) and it still didn’t print correctly. Can anyone have a solution? Thanks

Hello Kevin Z!

Thanks for joining this thread. I'd like to share some details and assist you with barcode printing.

It's good to know that you tried all the available label formats. On the Print Labels window, you can click the Align button to adjust the label. This is to ensure that you're able to print it correctly. Then, make sure to click OK to save it.

If the same thing happens, I suggest you reach out to our Support Team so they can check and further assist you.

  1. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Enter "Print Barcode", select Let's talk and then choose a way to connect.

I included this article if you need assistance in setting up barcode scanners: Set up and use barcode scanning in QuickBooks Desktop.

I'll help in any way I can if you have any other concerns with this. If you need to record other entries, let me know and I'll post a guide or two.

This is getting so frustrating to say the least. I bought a brand new Zebra DP12. It prints fine with just 1 barcode label no matter how many copies i choose. Image u need to print thousands barcodes lol. I also bought an older Zebra LP2824 Plus, it gives me same issue. ONLY 1 label at a time. Any solutions?

Hi there, @Kevin Z.

Please know we place a value on your ideas as this isn’t the kind of service we want you to experience.

You’ll want to consider looking for a third-party application that allows you to print multiple barcode label. Just go to the Apps Center and select which one from the list of applications matches your need.

Here's how:

  1. In your browser, enter this link: Apps for QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. From there, enter a keyword in the Search field or use the Filters section to narrow down the process.
  3. This action will display a list of apps.
  4. Click on the View Profile button to see more details about the software.

You can also visit our Firm of the Future to check the recent happenings and future developments, such as updates to newly added features.

Lastly, I've got you these helpful article to help you with printing errors and issues: Troubleshoot tag printer issues.

I am having problems printing the barcode vertically instead of horizontal with my DYMO twin turbo 450 label printer.  I have had 2 experts try.  I have done a rebuild of my data and NO errors  I even tried fQB file doctor.  No errors with my data.  I have tried every option in the print window such as rotate 90 degrees, print landscape instead of horizontal.  Any suggestions?
