Buy nowHello, I remember that in an older version of QuickBooks there was a user permission called "view costs." You could disable it, and users wouldn't be able to see the cost of the items. I don't see that option in QuickBooks Enterprise 2024.
If that option isn't available, how can I prevent my users from seeing the item costs? I've asked several AI assistants, and they give me a lot of options that don't exist in my version or that I don't understand.
Thank you
Hi, Danila. User permissions can be tricky, so I’m here to clarify things for you.
In QuickBooks Enterprise 2024, there isn’t a specific permission to hide item costs like the older "view costs" option. However, you can restrict a user’s access to the Item List, which prevents them from seeing item costs directly from the list or setup.
That said, take note that if a user has permission to create transactions such as bills, checks, or purchase orders, they’ll still be able to see item costs during the process.
If hiding item costs is a priority, I recommend limiting transaction permissions for certain users or assign roles that only provide access to areas of the program unrelated to item costs.
Let me know if you have further questions.
Is there a version that does have this option?
I've hidden the markup in the quote template, but it's unbelievable that something as sensitive as the costs can't be hidden.
I even created a profile where users can only create and edit quotes, and even then, the costs are still visible.
Hi Danila.
Thank you for returning to the QuickBooks Community! We appreciate the steps you’ve taken so far. Currently, QuickBooks Enterprise 2024 doesn’t have a built-in feature to completely hide internal costs when users are editing quotes.
The software should be able to meet your business needs, such as hiding internal costs on quotes. Sharing your feedback with our Product Engineers can help them consider this feature for future updates.
