Inventory Bin Transfers

It would be a huge help to be able to transfer a Bin and its contents from site to site?  Rather than having to transfer all the individual items line by line.  We have sets that have hundreds of items that live in bins in a master site.  When we move sets to the field, we have to transfer all these items individually and when the set returns do it again.  Is this something Intuit is working on or is there a method to do this currently?

Inventory Bin Transfers

Good morning, @train64

Welcome to the Community!

Based on the details you gave, these steps below should do the trick:

  1. Go to the Inventory menu, then select Transfer Inventory.
  2. Complete the information at the top of the form: Date, Reference No., Class, Transfer from, and to. Note: If you're transferring between bin locations, you still need to enter a site in the Transfer from and to fields; in most cases, this will be the same site. You specify bin locations in the fields below.
  3. Use the Find & Select Items button or the Item drop-down to choose the inventory items to transfer.
  4. Complete the transfer details as appropriate.
  5. (Optional) In the Memo field, enter the reason for this transfer, such as Transfer opening quantity to site.
  6. (Optional) Press Print to print a copy of the transfer for your records.
  7. Click Save & Close.

Review this guide for additional information: Multiple Inventory Sites

Inventory Bin Transfers

Hi Candace,

Thanks for the feedback.  The find & select button works well if transferring an entire site.  We are wanting to move a specific bin in one site over to a bin in another site. Unfortunately, filter does not allow you to filter down to a specific bin.  The select all button populates the entire site with all bins.  We have cases where we have 100 bins in a single site so going thru and removing unwanted items is not feasible as it could be 1000's of line items.  If we had the ability to filter down to a specific bin and send that bin of items to another bin in another site, then we would solve our problem.  Does that make sense?

Thanks again for your quick reply!

Inventory Bin Transfers

Thanks for checking back with us, @train64

I understand what you're saying. Unfortunately, QuickBooks doesn't have the option to filter down to a specific bin and send that bin to another bin at a different site. This is something that must be done manually using the steps my colleague has provided above. As she mentioned, you can check out our guide: Multiple Inventory Sites for more information about the transfer process.

In the meantime, you can submit feature requests to our Product Development Team while using QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. In the top menu bar, go to Help, Send Feedback Online, then Product Suggestion....
  2. Choose a Type of Feedback and Product Area (optional) from your available drop-down menus.
  3. Enter any suggestions/feedback in the Here is my suggestion: field.
  4. If you'd like, include your name/email in the My name is: (optional) and My e-mail address is: (optional) fields.
  5. Select Send Feedback.

Your feedback is valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development Team, and considered in future updates. You'll be able to find the latest news about your product by checking out our QuickBooks Blog.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. Have a good one!
