Shopify Connector Product import errors

Hello everyone, I'd really appreciate your assistance with a challenge I'm facing. I'm using the QuickBooks connector with Shopify to transfer my inventory from Shopify to QuickBooks. I rely on this process to synchronize changes in stock levels and add new products to our Shopify system almost daily.

However, I've come across an issue that appears to stem from a legacy system configuration setting I made during my initial sync. The problem is that the system has imported the product ID as the name of the product, and the actual name of the product is now listed as the description in QuickBooks. Inadvertently, I imported the items as non-inventory service-based items, leaving me without the cost per item, sale price, or accurate item count in QuickBooks.

As a result, I'm unable to create purchase orders, and I'm encountering errors when syncing invoices from Shopify to QuickBooks. Is there a way to efficiently resolve this issue without manually adjusting each item or resorting to deleting everything and re-uploading the products? Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

I've attached a picture of an example of a product that has this issue

I appreciate you for adding screenshots, Tiara.

I'm here to enlighten you about syncing data from Shopify to QuickBooks Online.

Based on the screenshot provided, it seems that you've configured the system to match the items by Name. When selecting Name, we match the product's SKU (product ID) from Shopify to the product's name field in QuickBooks Online.

I've added this screenshot as your visual guide:

To ensure we fix this issue you encountered, can you share here the exact error message that prevents you from creating a purchase order?

Moreover, I've added this article in case you want to send your contacts from Shopify to QuickBooks Online: Integrate Shopify contacts into QuickBooks Online.

Keep us posted so we can ensure that your issue gets resolved in no time.

Its not that I cant make a purchase order, its that the products I am adding to the purchase order are missing critical cost per item information, meaning I need to type it in manually or I need to go into each product and update the information manually. I want to bulk fix this issue or do a reimport to wipe out all the wrong product information and replace with the correct information. Any ideas on how to fix it?

In your screen shot, are you saying I should change my setting from name to SKU or to make sure Name is selected? I already have name selected.

Hi there, Tiara.

How data are transmitted into QuickBooks Online from Shopify depends on the system configuration that was set and the third-party app. The option to fix downloaded incorrect information by bulk is unavailable in the program. Thus, you'll have to manually update each item in QuickBooks. Here's how to edit your product or service items:

  1. Go to Sales and select Products & services.
  2. Find the product or service you want to change.
  3. Click Edit in the Action column.
  4. Make your changes.
  5. When you're done, select Save and close.

To verify where the issue stems from, I'd suggest reaching out to the support teams for both Shopify and QuickBooks Online support. Here are the steps to connect with our phone support:

  1. Go to Help (?).
  2. Select Contact Us and choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support expert.
    • Get a callback from the next available expert.

Moreover, you can run inventory reports in QuickBooks to get helpful insights on the things you buy and sell.

Feel free to reach out if you require additional support about correcting your imports. I'm here to assist you in any way I can. That's all for now. Take care and stay safe!

What about I delete the existing products and do a new import using a CSV file? Shopify can export products and then import them into Quickbooks.

Hypothetically, what if I was to delete all the products and then resync with shopify connector?
