Units calculation on sales receipt

I have a client that sells product by the ton. He wants to show tare weight and final weight on invoices and receipts. His scales show results in pounds. How can I show the weights and convert from pounds to tons on the invoices and receipts?

Units calculation on sales receipt

Good afternoon, @Yogi

Welcome back to the Community!

I can see how beneficial this could be for your business. However, you'll need to add this information into the description box. QuickBooks doesn't have a built in unit of measure for tracking inventory.

We recommend submitting feedback to our Product Developers so they can consider adding this as a new feature in QBO.

Feel free to come back if you have any other concerns. I'm only a post away if you need be. Have a wonderful day!

@Yogi

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're asking, but you can type the weight in pounds in the DESCRIPTION box on the invoice/sales receipt, and then, to have the correct amount in tons show in the QTY box, enter the weight in pounds divided by 2000.  For example, if you're selling 123,456 pounds of gravel, enter 123456/2000 in the QTY box and QBO will calculate the correct amount in tons (61.728 tons).  You can round as needed.  If the gravel is an inventory item, then you want to make sure that your inventory is in tons as well.

Thank you for responding. I was not sure that you could perform calculations within the quantity field of invoices and sales receipts in QBO as I have done in desktop. Most of my clients use Essentials or Plus. I have seen that there is an app for using a scale to complete invoices and receipts in POS, but none of my clients have POS. Also, the items being weighed are not small items coming across the cashier's counter. These are bigger, sold by the truckload.
