Upgrade issues Essentials to Advanced

Hi Team,  if someone is on QBO Essentials and wants to upgrade to Advanced, is there anything special they need to watch out for? Will it cause issues with the current accounts or anything in Essentials?  How I think about it is that you get everything in Essentials, plus more from Advanced so it should not be risky to upgrade -- but wanted to put the question out there.

They are looking to upgrade to do job costing; so need customer and project. (will need to add new accounts and sub accounts)

Upgrade issues Essentials to Advanced

Hello there, @TD36. Allow me to provide valuable insights on upgrading to the QuickBooks Online Advanced version. I aim to ensure you're equipped with all the necessary information to make an informed decision.

Upgrading from Essentials to Advanced will not cause issues with your existing accounts or any other data from the previous version. This upgrade will give you access to all the functionalities and more advanced features, such as project tracking. You can visit our page to learn more about the premium features available in QuickBooks Online Advanced.

Since you're looking to do job costing and need to add new customers for project tracking, upgrading to Advanced is a good choice. It's the highest version available, and you can add new accounts and sub-accounts as needed.

To upgrade your version, you can follow these steps:

  1. In your QuickBooks Online account, click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Subscription and Billing, then hit Upgrade your plan.

I'll be adding these articles to help handle your projects, customers, and chart of accounts:

Anytime you need additional clarification about upgrading plans and how they work. You can leave a comment down below, @TD36. Best wishes!

Upgrade issues Essentials to Advanced

Hi @ShyMae ,

Thank you -- I have upgraded to Advanced and turned on the Projects.  I am looking to integrate Invoiced.com to my QBO account --- is there a way to copy over my QBO production account to a sandbox environment for some testing?

What is best practice when trying to sync Invoiced.com and Concur to QBO Advanced?

Thanks for following up with the Community, TD36.

You can find detailed steps for integrating Invoiced with QuickBooks on their app page. You'll also be able to locate their contact information there, in case you're in need of further support with their integration process.

For Concur, they also have an app page in our QuickBooks App Store where you'll find detailed information about syncing data between the two platforms. You'll additionally find their contact details there if further support is necessary.

As for exporting data from QuickBooks, there's different ways to export different things.

Here's how to export your lists and reports:

  1. Use the Gear icon, then go to Export data.
  2. From your Reports tab, specify a date range.
  3. Add or remove items from the Reports and Lists screens by turning your switch on or off.
  4. Select Export to Excel.

If you need to export a different report, you can export reports to Excel. You can also find detailed steps for exporting non-posting transactions and attachments in our Export reports, lists, & other data article.

I'll be here to help if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome Wednesday!

Thank you - what about question around setting up QBO sandbox and having option to bringing over QBO Production so I can test on that in the sandbox?

I appreciate you sharing your other concerns about setting up QBO Sandbox and testing it for your business needs, @TD36. Let me chime into this thread and provide assistance about this one.

The first step you'll need to do is to create a developer profile. After creating a developer account, you can automatically get a sandbox company or make up to 10 sandbox companies that are active and valid for two years. To create one, here's how:

  1. Sign in to your developer account.
  2. Click the API Docs & Tools tab, then select Sandbox.

  3. In the Manage Sandboxes page, hit Add a sandbox company.
  4. Choose QuickBooks Online Advanced or QuickBooks Online Plus. If you select QuickBooks Online Plus, choose a country from the Country dropdown, as the Sandbox companies are region-specific and can't be changed.
  5. Hit Add.

For more details about the process, please check out this article: Create and test with a sandbox company.

Regarding your next concern about bringing over your QBO Production company to Sandbox, I recommend contacting our Intuit Developer Support team for further guidance. They can provide you with the necessary and accurate information about this matter and help with the integrations if required.

Moreover, I'll be attaching this article that you can use to learn more about Sandbox: Sandbox FAQ.

If I can be of further assistance, don't hesitate to add a comment below. I'll be more than happy to help you. Have a great day!
