Hello everyone,
Joining this thread to share some information about the QuickBooks Online Desktop app.
To have access to the app, you need to be a QuickBooks Online Advanced subscriber or an accountant with a QuickBooks Online Accountant. It’ll be promoted in the following places:
If the same things happen, I'd suggest contacting our support team for assistance. Our representatives can find more solutions and help ensure you're able to download and access it successfully.
I’m adding this guide for complete instructions about the process: Download and use the QuickBooks Online desktop app. It includes instructions about accessing multiple accounts from numerous tabs and switching between the map and the dashboard view.
Should you have any follow-up questions or concerns about the app, please don't hesitate to add comments. I’ll make sure everything is covered. Take care!
Your response fails. Did you test it? I did - and from any browser on Mac (Safari, Chrome, and Edge - all 3 tested), the version of the app available for download after logging in and going to the gear, the resulting page only presents a Download link for Windows version of the app.
The Mac version of the QBO App was announced almost 3 months ago. The originally provided link does download a zip file that contains a Mac version of the app, so we know it exists! However, the version downloaded is broken (no copy/paste, and is many version numbers behind the PC version) - the Mac download hasn't ever been updated with the same fixes as the Windows version.
We just need someone who cares enough to escalate this throughout Intuit to the right persons that would again hopefully care enough to publish an updated download and send out the link and/or make the page within QBO beneath the gear show both download links - one for PC and another for Mac.
FRUSTRATING!
Finally, today, I happened to re-check within a browser on Mac...
now there is a proper link to a recently updated version (Gear Icon>Get the desktop app)
https://http-download.intuit.com/http.intuit/CMO/tango/static/latest/QuickBooks%20Online.dmg
(as of June 10, 2023) will get you version 1.10 which is equal to what's available for PC at this time.
Let's hope that Intuit keeps both platform Apps up-to-date with feature parity.
PS: my prior community account in this thread has been blocked/removed from my Intuit account, possibly for being vocal about frustrations related to this topic, so I had to re-register.
