$0 Rates when exporting from QB Time to QBO

Our company has construction labor that is billable so we export time entries from Quickbooks Time to Quickbooks Online. In Time, we have rates set for all our construction members and we can export these hours from Time easily. However, on Quickbooks Online all the time that is exported has only kept the hours, the rate is now $0 so all billable time is billed as FREE LABOR to the businesses who are paying us for the work done. We can not edit the hours that are exported to QBO, either. Whenever we try to edit the hours in QBO it gives us an error with no explanation. To work around this, we have been manually entering the time ourselves into Quickbooks Online and it is becoming too much work to handle. Can anyone help us figure out why our billable hours are losing their rates and why we can not edit the hours in QBO after they are exported from QBTime?

Thanks!

$0 Rates when exporting from QB Time to QBO

Hey BentonACT,

Thank you for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community. I will be delighted to assist you here. If the time has already been exported, you would need to contact Support to make any edits. Once connected with Support, there is a feature that we can add so you will be able to make edits on your own in the future.

As far as the rates are concerned, it will be best to get on a screen share with the agent to look at QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Time together to resolve this issue. No worries, this will be done in a secured environment. You can contact us at 888.836.2720 or use our chat feature.

Would you mind letting me know how the interactions go? If you have any additional questions, I will be more than happy to lend a helping hand. I hope you have an awesome day.

Thanks for reaching out to me. I tried contacting QBTime and they said they cannot fix this and redirected me to Quickbooks Online support. I got on the line with Quickbooks Online, the person I spoke with, April Rose, was very nice and suggested I talk to QBTime support... She was nice enough to stay on the line after I explained I was just redirected from QBTime support. Ultimately she did not know how to fix this issue so she redirected me to another agent, Elisiana, who hung up immediately after I was redirected to them. So I got help from nobody after I was redirected and this issue still has not been solved.

Hey there, @BentonACT.

Thank you for following up with us and letting us know how your experience went with phone support. Please know this is not the impression we wish to leave you with.

Please understand contacting our Support Team would be the best course of action for your issue. This way, one of our agents can screenshare with you to visually investigate what's causing your rates issue. It may be that an investigation needs to be created if it falls under certain circumstances. Such as, our troubleshooting isn't working to resolve it.

If you don't wish to speak with a phone agent, I encourage you to try our Chat Support. Our chat support agents obtain all the same tools as our phone agents. I've included the direct link to connect with chat support below.

Please let me know how everything goes. I'll be right here if you have any questions or concerns. Take care!

Just an update on my progress with our issue. I got in touch with customer support again earlier this week. It took a while to finally get the help we needed but we did manage to get an expert to open a case for the QB "Investigation team" to look at and fix. They said it will be fixed within the next 24 hours but it's been 4 days since then and we haven't received any emails from the team on the issue, an ETA for the fix, or anything since they opened the case.

Hi there, Benton.

I appreciate you for connecting with our Support Team to isolate the issue you had when exporting time from QuickBooks Time to QuickBooks Online. I understand that you need an immediate response to this matter. Rest assured our team are all hands working together to provide a resolution as quickly as possible.

For now, I suggest getting back to them so an agent can pull up the previous case you had and share updates on the status of the investigation.

Let me know if you have any other questions while tracking your time entries. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!

Any progress? I'm having the same issue. Even after entering the cost and bill rate manually, I tried to create an invoice and it show $0 bill rate. QB Desktop is so much better than QBO. I am wasting a ton of hours trying to do basic things that I could in 5 mins in QB Desktop.

No update yet. I've tried contacting support and asking for an estimated time my case number will be fixed. They said they don't know and can't give an estimated time. We just have to sit and wait in the dark about our issue until someone from the QB team emails us saying it is fixed. It's been a couple weeks since the ticket was opened.

Unfortunately business can't wait forever in the dark so we've started looking at other services that don't have major integration issues with QBO. You'd think 2 Quickbooks products would have good integration with each other, haha. We'll keep the support ticket case open but until we hear back we'll be looking around at other options.

Remember that QB Time was not a QB product.  It was previously Tsheets, which QB purchased.  Tsheets integrated into QB before they sold the company to QB.  I did see an older comment in this community about Tsheets billable rate not populating. Try searching on that and maybe you'll get lucky.

QB Support agreed this was an integration issue on their end and have sent this issue to the developers to get it fixed. But it's been several months now and every time I contact them if/when the support ticket will be fixed by the developers, they say they don't know and tell us to keep waiting. Maybe it takes half a year or more for tickets to be resolved?

I have found that when the time records come over from Tsheets into QB, the costs and rates are coming from rates set up in the matching payroll or vendor record in QB for that person's time. Once I updated all the rates in QB for the vendor name or the employee name, then the time populates into QB with the correct cost and bill rates.  I was also able to go into QB and in each project, manually update the rates that were showing as zero.Hope this helps.

I am having the same issue. The only way I have found to resolve the issue is to manually enter the hourly rate after time is synced to QBO. Many people are having this issue. So we are paying for a service that does not function properly.

I have this same exact issue. After hours on the phone with QB they opened a case with their product time. That was two weeks ago. I haven't heard back

Same issue here. It has been happening for years and is very hard to track when it will bill at $0 vs the correct billable rate of the service. Its really frustrating since QBOE clearly does not fix these bigs.

Let me chime in and direct you to the right channel that can address your concern on time, gogetem.

When faced with a situation where the imported billable rate will show a zero rate in the online program, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online (QBO) Care Team so they can conduct further investigation. They have tools to determine what causes the imported rate to show as zero in QBO, and assist you in applying the permanent solution once it is available.

To get the contact information:

  1. Tap the Help icon in your company to display the support window.
  2. In the Assistant tab, enter a brief description of your concern in the field bar and click the Get help from a human link to display the support options.
  3. Choose Chat to initiate a conversation or Callback to speak with an agent.

Refer to this article to know more about the support hours and options offered for QBO: Contact Support.

Utilize these resources moving forward to help with managing your team members' timesheets, troubleshooting syncing errors, and performing a specific task in the online program:

I have contacted them many times. Zero help. How can it take years to fix a bug like this?
