Accidentally did payroll using the wrong Bank GL - can you easily switch to correct bank

Good day, lolsen.

Are you trying to change the account in the Chart of Accounts of your paycheck? If so, the option to edit this info is unavailable in the program.

If your payroll hasn't been submitted yet, then you can delete the paycheck and recreate it again. Just make sure to select the correct bank account this time.

If the paycheck has already been sent, you'll need to void the paycheck and then process a regular payroll check to rectify your data.

Here's how to delete or void a paycheck:

  1. Go to Payroll and select Employees.
  2. Click Paycheck list.
  3. Select the paycheck(s) you'd like to delete or void, then choose Edit, Delete, or Void.
  4. Click Yes.

Keep in mind that your ability to edit, delete, or void a paycheck could depend on your processing time and the specific payroll service you're using. For additional insights, you can refer to this article: When and how to fix an employee paycheck.

Moreover, you can run several payroll reports in QuickBooks to view useful info about your business and employees.

Should you have any further inquiries, don't hesitate to ask. I'm here to assist you with any payroll-related tasks. Have a great day.

Weird. I've been able to change the bank account on a check, any type of check, in QuickBooks Desktop since the last century.  It's a super basic thing to be able to do, and quite useful. I wonder why QB Online doesn't let users do this? Seems super simple to make it work.

Oh well, I guess this is just another of the many ways QB Desktop is better then Online.
