Account incorrectly set up and can't be corrected?

One of our employees seems to be set up with an admin account of some sort instead of the Quickbooks basic. All we need is to be able to pay them with direct deposit — but that option is not available to us with this account set up. This account was created manually by someone on the Quickbooks end when we were experiencing technical difficulties. Now, it can't seem to be fixed.

How does one change an account from an admin (or someone who has access to the business side of everything) to just Quickbooks self-employed basic?

Account incorrectly set up and can't be corrected?

Welcome to the Community, @TheLibrarian.

Let me share some information that can help you pay your employee.

Since a direct deposit is only available in QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP), I recommend canceling your QuickBooks Self Employed (QBSE) account and signing up for QuickBooks Online before adding a payroll subscription. Let me show you how:

Cancel on iOS (iPhone or iPad)

  1. Go to Settings, then select iTunes & App Store.
  2. Tap your Apple ID, then select View Apple ID.
  3. Sign in with your Apple ID.
  4. Tap Subscriptions.
  5. Tap QuickBooks Self-Employed, then Cancel Subscription.

Cancel on Mac

  1. Open iTunes.
  2. Go to the Account menu, then select View My Account.
  3. Sign in with your Apple ID, then select View Account.
  4. In the Settings section, select Manage next to Subscriptions.
  5. Select Edit next to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
  6. Select Cancel Subscription, then Confirm.

Cancel on Android

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Tap the Menu ☰.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Find QuickBooks Self-Employed, then select Cancel Subscription.
  5. Follow the instructions to complete the process.

Cancel on Web Browser

  1. Go to play.google.com.
  2. Sign in to your Google account.
  3. From the left menu, select My subscriptions.
  4. Select QuickBooks Self-Employed.
  5. Select Manage, then Cancel Subscription.

After that, you still have access to your account until the next billing cycle.

Then, you can sign up for a QBO account and add a payroll subscription.
