Can I export payroll tax payments to QuickBooks Desktop?

Hi AlexV,

Thanks for responding. I can, in fact, export my tax reports from QB Online to an IIF file. I found this myself, after I had posted to this forum.

In the Payroll Tax Center, near the bottom of the page  under Tax resources is an option to view the "Tax payment history".  Once you select that, choose the "Date Range" for the report and click "Run Report", you get a list of all the tax payments in that range. If you then click the checkbox(es) on the left-hand edge, a new button will appear: "Export to Accounting". This creates an IIF file which imports correctly into QuickBooks Desktop.

Thanks for reaching out, richard105.

QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop are both accounting software. You can add a payroll plan on top of your subscription on any of these versions.

Though we're unable to export the data from QuickBooks Online to an IIF file, you can export it to Excel. Then, you can look for a third-party app to convert it to an IIF file.

  1. Go to the Payroll Tax Center.
  2. From the Payments tab, click the Tax payment history.
  3. Set the Date Range. From the Share drop-down, choose Export to Excel.

Thank you Richard, this worked like a charm. I love how the folks at Quickbooks get a kick out of making our lives miserable and hiding features that accountants use daily.
