I am trying to run payroll but cannot access "accounting" under "payroll settings" to assign my new hires to the proper class. It will not let me run payroll for my company without assigning these employees to a class.
I can not find any number or email for support. My employees need to be paid? Should I find a new payroll and accounting system and leave QB?
Welcome to the Community space, @jeremyjroy74.
A possible browser issue might have caused the Accounting option not accessible under the Payroll Settings. Let me share some steps to resolve unexpected results when working in QuickBooks Online.
To isolate this, signing into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) using a private browser (incognito).
Here's how:
Once done, log back in and go back to the Payroll Settings. Then, check if you can already access the Accounting option. For more information, see this article: Set up and track your payroll expenses by class.
If it's working, return to your default browser and perform a clear cache to refresh the system. You can also use other supported browsers.
However, if it's the same, you can contact our Customer Support Team. They can further investigate this matter and help assign class to your new employees. To reach them, click this link: Contact Payroll Support.
Also, I'll be sharing these references that will guide you in tracking your payroll expenses in QuickBooks:

None of those things work.
I can’t contact support because the is no Contact Us option under Help
I get a message “Failed to load Chart of Accounts Data”
Let me chime in and walk you through the complete process of contacting our support, @jeremyjroy74.
The Contact Us is located under the Search option after selecting the Help icon. It showed up also after typing “Talk to a human” and entering your concern in the Assistant window.
You can follow the steps outlined below to get in touch with our Payroll Support team:

I am having this problem too. I have called support twice and they say they are "working on it". The last tech told me they have been working on it since early in January. I can not find a way around it. Were you able to get it resolved? I had to delete my newest employee so I could pay all of my other employees (since they were already assigned a class). Then QB support was able to manually add a class for my new employee so I was finally able to get him paid. But going forward, I still have no access and continue to get the error "failed to load chart of accounts data." Not sure what to do next as the payroll program will not work as it should and I can not seem to find a way to get around it and QB does not seem to understand the sense of urgency.
