Change date of pay period on check

Good morning, @jlbromaine-gmail.

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community. I hope you're having a great day so far.

At this time, once the paycheck has been created, you can’t edit the pay period. However, if the paycheck is a direct deposit and is already processed, or the paycheck is a paper check you can contact our Payroll Support Team for help changing your pay period dates. Please know this won't change the dates on the paper check unless you reprint the check.

If the direct deposit paycheck has been created but has not yet been processed, you can try to delete it and then recreate it with the correct pay period. Here's how:

  1. Go to Payroll, then Employees.
  2. Select Paycheck list.
  3. Select the paycheck(s) you'd like to delete or void, then select Edit, Delete, or Void.
  4. Select Yes.

If you are unable to make the change, you'll see a message explaining why. If you see a message, you'll need to contact our Payroll Support Team so our Team can investigate further.

For more information about this process, check out Edit, delete, or void employee paychecks

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. Take care and have a great day ahead!

@Tori B  RE: At this time, once the paycheck has been created, you can’t edit the pay period.

That's weird. You can change it when using Desktop Payroll.  That makes sense, because it is wrong you'd of course want to change it in order to be compliant and give accurate paychecks to your employees.

I guess this is yet another way (there are so many!) that QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Desktop Payroll are better than QuickBooks Online.
