Colorado General Paid Sick Leave

Can someone tell me how to set up Sick Leave in QBooks?
Colorado now requires 1 Hour of General Paid Sick Leave per 30 hours, capped at 48 hours. I've tried using the tutorial and I can't figure it out.

Also, does this start from the employees start date?  Or does it start Jan 1 2022 regardless of the employees start date?

Thank you

Colorado General Paid Sick Leave

Hello there, @denflores.

I can share some insights on how you can set up your sick pay accrual in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll. Follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Edit menu, then select Preferences.
  2. Choose Payroll and Employees, then go to the Company Preferences.
  3. Select Sick and Vacation.
  4. Under Set accrual limit, select Maximum hours at a time.

Since you are accruing 1 hour for every 30 hours worked by the employee, that should be 2 minutes accrued time for 1 hour. See this:

Post here again if you have other concerns with QuickBooks and employee payroll setup. I'll be right here to help you out. Have a good one!

Colorado General Paid Sick Leave

Hi there, @Kristy31. I'll be happy to walk you through this so you can set up a sick leave in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company.

Before setting up a sick leave in QBO, you'll want to ensure you've set your company to track time off. Doing this makes it easy to track your employees' time when they're away from work. I'll input the steps below so you can proceed. To begin, here's how:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Go to Payroll, then Employees.
  3. Select your employee.
  4. From Pay types, select Start or Edit.
  5. Scroll down to the Time off policies section. From the Paid time off, Unpaid time off, Sick Pay, or Vacation Pay ▼ dropdown, select Add new [time off pay] policy.
  6. Complete the on-screen fields to create your policy, then select Save.
  7. When finished, select Save.

For more information, please see this article: Set up and track time off in payroll.

Once everything is set, see this helpful article for a complete step-by-step process of setting up a sick leave in QBO: Enter sick pay or vacation pay hours for salaried employees.

Additionally, I've got you this article in case you'd like to add a copy of all the paychecks that you've processed inside your company: Add pay history to QuickBooks Online Payroll.

Also, feel free to visit this page to learn how you can add more information in your reports: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
