Does quickbooks still do w-2's for the people that they did all payroll on for 23 until october? our person passed away in october and i had to do a whole new account

Hello there, pacefarah.

I'm here to share some information about the W-2.

If you've finished the W-2 form in QuickBooks Online but forgot to input the October payroll, we can contact payroll support to fix your 2023 payroll data and correct the W-2 details. However, if you haven't created the W-2 yet, we can issue a paper check for that period to ensure the correct W-2 amounts. Here's the process:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Payroll settings under Your Company.
  3. Under Preferences, click Paycheck Printing.
  4. You can select either Plain paper stubs (to accompany handwritten checks) or Preprinted QuickBooks®-compatible voucher check stock option. Tip: If this is the first time you're printing checks, select Align check.
  5. Click OK to reflect the changes.

For additional reference, you can check out this article: Invite your employees to QuickBooks Workforce to see pay stubs, W-2s, and more if you use QuickBooks...

Keep me updated in the comments if you have further questions about W-2's in QuickBooks Online. I'm just a reply away. Keep safe and have a good one.

This didn't help. I just need to know if qb still does w-2 for canceled payroll because our hr passed away in October so I had to set up a new account. Put she used qb payroll all year til October. Just need to know if my crew will get a w-2 or if I have to get them combined

I'm here to ensure all your employees receive their W2 forms, pacefarah.

To have your employees get a copy of their W2 forms, you'll need to reactivate your account so you can file.

Here's how:

  1. Hove to the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
  2. Choose Billing & Subscription
  3. Click Resubscribe in the Subscription status field.
  4. Review the Subscription summary, then enter your payment info and payment method.
  5. Once finished, select Resubscribe.

Now, let's check if the Automate taxes and forms are enabled. If you turn this option on, we will electronically file the W2 on your behalf.

  1. Hover to the Gear icon, then select Payroll Settings.
  2. From the Taxes and forms section, choose Edit.
    1. If the Automate taxes and forms is selected, then QuickBooks will automatically pay and file your taxes.
  3. Hit Save, then Done

On the other hand, I recommend contacting our payroll support team to check if the W2 forms are submitted. They can pull up your account in a secure environment and quickly review the forms we filed for you. They have all the necessary information and tools to address your concern.

Furthermore, if you want to look closely at your business's finances, you can run a payroll report. It will provide a detailed summary of your company's payroll expenses, including employee salaries, bonuses, taxes, and other related costs.

You are welcome to contact me anytime by tapping the reply button below. I'm always here to help with any questions or concerns you may have about filing W2 forms and whether your employees will receive copies.
