Duplicate employee entries

Mistakenly entered new employee info twice.  Deleted one entry, but QB will not allow me to continue with the second as they say the employee is already in the system.  I can not locate the employee that is supposed to be in the system

Duplicate employee entries

Hello, @bimmy. Let me help you enter your second employee in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Please know that QBO doesn't allow duplicate names, I suggest creating a check to verify if the employee has the same name. Once confirmed, you can change it so you can continue entering the details of the second worker in the system.

The other way is to run Employee List report to confirm if you've already created an employee with the same name. You can also check other Name list (customer, vendor, contractor). If you see a duplicate name from the list, you can make inactive/delete or change their name (add extra character).

Additionally, to manage your payroll reports efficiently, check out this article: Run payroll reports.

Please get back to us if you have follow-up question about entering a new employee in QBO or any other payroll concerns. We're always here to help. Have a good one.
