entering payroll history and WA PFAML not matching

I'm entering payroll history for a company we acquired in March. Jan- feb payroll history.

everything matches except the Washington state Paid Family and Medical Leave deduction.

we are under 50 employees, so we do not have a company contribution. just the .8% for employees.

I cannot move any farther in entering the payroll history until these match up.

any suggestions? anything I'm missing?

I can help you match the Washington State Paid Family and Medical Leave deduction by adding the employee's contribution, KalaM.

Let's start by setting up the payroll item for the employee's deduction. That way, you'll be able to add the .8% contribution when entering the prior payroll.

Here are the steps you can follow.

  1. Go to Employees and select Employee Center.
  2. Double-click the employee's name to open the Edit Employee window.
  3. Select the Payroll Info tab and click Taxes.
  4. In the Taxes screen that pops up, select the Other tab.
  5. Make sure the Washington Paid Family Leave items are there (WA – Paid Fam Med Leave Emp: Employee portion of the total insurance premium).
  6. Enter the .8% contribution in the Emp. Portion Rate field.
  7. Select the tax to change the rate.
  8. Click OK twice to close the window.

Once done, go back to the Payroll Setup window and continue to enter the prior history. I'm adding this article to see the detailed steps: Learn how to enter historical tax payments in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

I'm adding these articles to help manage your payroll data and how to make sure you're tracking paid family and medical leave in Washington correctly.

I'm just around the corner if you still have payroll-related concerns. I want to make sure that everything is sorted out. Take care and have a great day!
