Fixing a paycheck that has been already submitted through direct deposit - QB desktop

I paid an employee yesterday an incorrect wage, and the payroll has already been submitted through direct deposit.

What is the best/correct way to fix this?

Fixing a paycheck that has been already submitted through direct deposit - QB desktop

Hi there, @Joe . I've got your back. I'll share some details about direct deposit paychecks in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). This way, you'll be able to correct your employee's paycheck. At the same time, keep your payroll data accurate.

If the status of your direct deposit is still pending, you can still void the paycheck and recreate it to avoid messing your payroll data up. But if it's been processed already, you'll want to reach out to our payroll support. This way, they can help you correct your direct deposit paycheck. I'll input the steps below so you can proceed to check the status of your direct deposit paycheck. To begin, here's how:

  1. Go to the Employees menu and select View Payroll Run Status.
  2. In the Recent payrolls section, select a payroll.
  3. Select the View Payroll Run Status drop-down and then Selected payroll. You'll see the status of the paycheck on the Payroll status window.

See this article for more information: Check the status of an employee's direct deposit.

If it's still pending, then you can proceed in editing the direct deposit check. Refer to this article for the complete steps: How to cancel or stop a Direct Deposit paycheck in QBDT Payroll.

In case the direct deposit paycheck has been offloaded already, you'll want to contact our payroll support to get this fix. Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
