Florida RT6 quarterly payroll report only prints 8 digits of SSN on it

9 digits appear on the screen but only 8 print on the form.

I had this issue a year and a half ago and no one could fix it at Quickbooks - I just got the boilerplate answers.

It looks like it just started a couple of days ago as the ones I processed earlier in the month are ok.

Last time it happened I put the file in the 2024 version and it fixed itself.  But now these files are in the 2024 version and resetting the updates is not fixing it.

Is anyone else having this issue?

@Madeleine34608  Not surprising.

Aside from a suggestion to use Adobe to edit in the relevant numbers in the PDF, the only idea I have is to tap @BigRedConsulting . They have done excellent work in the past on bypassing some of QuickBooks' silliness; for instance, that W-2 fiasco a year or two ago.

I was going to use Adobe - that is how we fixed it last time this happened.

Thankfully I only found 4 of them.

Thanks for your suggestions.

We appreciate your efforts to resolve the printing issue, Madeleine. In addition to resetting updates, I can guide you through effective troubleshooting steps to address this matter. Let’s work together.

First, please update your QuickBooks, then we can use the QuickBooks Tool Hub to run the Print & Print Repair Tool to fix common printing errors.

Here’s how:

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the latest version (1.6.0.8) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  3. Open the downloaded file (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
  5. Once installed, double-click the QuickBooks Tool Hub icon on your desktop to open it.
  6. In the QuickBooks Tool Hub, select Program Problems.
  7. Choose QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool.
  8. Print, email, or save as a PDF from QuickBooks Desktop again.

If the problem persists, please restart your computer to ensure that the changes take effect, and then attempt to print the report again.

To find detailed steps for resolving the printing issue, please check this article: Fix PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

Additionally, you can make the report your own by modifying the data, adding or removing columns, customizing the header and footer, and selecting the font and style that you prefer. For more information, please check this article: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

I have done all of that as that is what I was told to do the last time the issue happened.

The information appears correct on the screen but not on the tax form (not report).

I do mot see any options to change a font on the tax form itself.

I know how to customize reports but I need to correct the actual tax form.

If you go into an actual RT6 form maybe you can see what I mean.

Thank you for your prompt response and for providing additional details about the issue with the RT6 tax form, Madeleine34608.

Given you have already updated QuickBooks and are still experiencing problems with the tax form printout, we need to explore targeted solutions related to data integrity and form-specific settings.

As the option to modify the font or format for tax forms is not available in QuickBooks, we should investigate other underlying issues affecting the printout.

I recommend the following additional steps:

  1. Download and Install the Latest Payroll update for QuickBooks Desktop:
    • It ensures you have the most recent version of the form within your payroll module. Updating the latest payroll tax table can resolve errors in printing tax forms.
  2. Verify and Rebuild Data:
    • Navigate to the File menu, select Utilities, and then select Verify Data.image (22).png
    • If QuickBooks finds any issues with your data, you should proceed with Rebuild Data under the same Utilities menu. This tool can help resolve any data integrity issues that might be causing the printing error.
  3. Print to PDF:
    • Print the RT6 form to a PDF first instead of sending it directly to the printer. After generating the PDF, confirm that all nine digits of the SSN are displayed correctly. If they are, proceed to print the PDF on paper, which may bypass any issues related to direct printing from QuickBooks.
  4. Adjust Printer Settings:
    • Check your printer settings to ensure no scaling or other modifications cut off part of the form. Printer-specific settings can significantly interfere with document output.
  5. Update Adobe PDF Reader:
    • Make sure your PDF reader, like Adobe Acrobat, is updated. An outdated PDF reader can lead to problems when printing forms, so take action to resolve this.
  6. Use a Different Printer:
    • Print the form using another printer to determine if the issue is printer-specific.

If you’ve gone through these steps and the issue persists, I recommend contacting the QuickBooks payroll support team for a more thorough investigation.

These is little to no chance - a snowball's change in hell, really - that either of these tools will have any effect on how the tax forms render information when they write it to a PDF for printing. That code has been buggy for years, and Intuit just doesn't seem to catch on and actually test updated forms before releasing them.
