How can I tell if all my 1099"s have been sent?

Greetings, @oakleaf-telcom

Congrats on making your first post here in the Community. I hope your week is going well so far. I can give you some insight into if your 1099's have been submitted, and if not, how to file them.

After you file your 1099s to the IRS, you'll receive an email with your filing status. You can also check your 1099 E-File account to see your filing status. Here's a list of the statuses and what they mean:

  • Not Submitted: Haven't e-file the 1099s with the IRS.
  • Submitted: You have e-filed with the IRS.
  • Received by IRS: IRS has received the information. They are either processing it, or it has already been approved.

If you need to E-file or print and email your 1099s, here's a guide that can help you out: Create and file 1099s using QuickBooks Online

Let me know if this helps. I want to make sure that you're able to get back to running your business. I'm only a post away if you need me. I'll always be around to help. Have a wonderful day!

How can I tell if all my 1099"s have been sent?

I used TurboTax Business desktop to e-file my 1099s. Filing this way ended up being a "three level" deep process.   TurboTax --->  Intuit Account  -----> quickemployerforms.intuit.com/businessHome.htm page.

None of the above levels seemed to know if I successfully efiled or not!!

The steps to efile via TurboTax:

I opened 2020 TurboTax desktop.

I clicked on "Prepare 1099s".

This took me to the Intuit logon page.  I signed into my Intuit account;

This took me to this site: quickemployerforms.intuit.com/businessHome.htm...

I created the new 2020 1099-NECs and updated my 1099-DIVs.

I printed, verified, then clicked efile.

Nothing seemed to happened.  There was absolutely no screen to print saying it was sent.

There was no information on any of the levels (TurboTax, Intuit Account, quickemployerforms.intuit.com site)

Finally - after about 30 minutes, I started receiving confirmation emails.

That's not enough!  I need some kind of verification WHEN I submit the forms so I don't think I'm going crazy.

This is less a question than a suggestion for the TurboTax/Intuit/quickemployerforms site route to efile.

How can I tell if all my 1099"s have been sent?

I appreciate you coming here for support, MoBr.

The Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) will send you a notification once the 1099s are successfully filed and received. If you're not receiving one, you can log in to your EFTPS account and review the submitted forms.

I'm adding this IRS article for further details about 1099-NEC: Instructions for Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC. It contains the complete set of instructions and the latest information about the form.

To learn more about what you need to do when filling the 1099-NEC, I suggest checking out this article: 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC Filing.

Get back to me if you need further help while working with W2's or anything about QuickBooks. Have a nice day.

How can I tell if all my 1099"s have been sent?

The original question was  - "How do I know my 1099 forms were SENT."  Yes, I will get notified by ETPFS when they are processed - but the quickemployee forms should at least show a page after I send the forms saying:  "Congratulations!  You have submitted your 1099s....  And then it can give instructions for what happens next."

How can I tell if all my 1099"s have been sent?

Hello,

My 1099 filling page says submitted under filling status and mailed under contractors copy. Does this confirm my 1099's have been submitted to the IRS and mailed to my contractors?

I’m glad to see you in this thread, @Roofman68. Let me provide you some information about the filing status in QuickBooks.

Yes, you’re correct. Your filing status will show as Submitted and Mailed under contractors once you have e-filed the form to the IRS and their copies are sent.

You can refer to Steps 5 in this guide for more information about filing status: Create and file 1099s using QuickBooks Online

If you want to view and print your previously filed 1099 forms in the future, you can log in to your 1099 E-File Service account or simply select View 1099 under 1099 filings.

Please know that we’re always here to help if you have other questions or concerns about 1099. Thank you and have a nice day!

How can I tell if all my 1099"s have been sent?

Hi.  I'm beginning to panic.  Maybe you can help?  I used QB to complete my 1099s on January 8th.  I still haven't received a single email indicating that they were sent/received.  It is now February 8th.  QB shows that they were "Accepted," but none of my contractors have received 1099s and it's well past the IRS deadline.  Aside from being worried, I'm kind of upset at QB for providing zero information.  I've called support 3x and gotten nothing more than, "call the IRS" and wait.

What do you think? Thanks

How can I tell if all my 1099"s have been sent?

Hello, @RBY

I can add details to help confirm if the IRS received your 1099 forms.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll, the Accepted status means the IRS has accepted and confirmed the forms. Normally, you'll receive a confirmation email approximately a week after seeing the status update. Since you didn't receive a confirmation email, I encourage checking your email's spam or junk folders.

Regarding the physical copy of the 1099s, the forms were postmarked on January 31. However, it can take a week depending on the United States Postal Service (USPS) and on how far the contractors' addresses are since it's QuickBooks that delivers the documents.

For now, you can consider downloading and printing the forms manually to send them to your contractors outside of QBO. Here's how:

  1. Go to the 1099 filings.
  2. Click on Download.

You can check out this article on how you can wrap up this year’s payroll and prepare for the next: Year-end checklist for QuickBooks Online Payroll.

We'll be here in the Community if you have additional questions about the status of your e-filed 1099s. We're committed to offering ongoing support. Take care.
