How can I void an E-payment through quickbooks to EFTPS for federal witholding?

Hey there, @jgreco.

I'm here to share some information about voiding a tax payment through QuickBooks Desktop to EFTPS.

According to the EFTPS webpage, if it's two or more business days before your payment is scheduled to be made you can cancel the payment.

Here's how:

  1. Select Payments from the home page.
  2. Click on Cancel a Payment from the left menu and follow the instructions.

Also, if the payment is scheduled to occur in less than two business days, you can't cancel it through the EFTPS tax payment service. Follow the guidance below:

  • If the previous payment is less than the amount owed, schedule another payment for the difference.
  • If the payment is the wrong tax form or tax type, contact the IRS in 10 business days to have a correction made.
  • If you have more than one EFTPS enrollment and used the wrong account, contact your financial institution about denying the payment (Fees may apply).
  • If you paid more than what you owe, the additional funds with be applied to the next tax period. Or, you may contact your financial institution about denying the payment.

Also, if you made a mistake in the tax period the IRS will autocorrect the period for current federal tax deposits.

Please let me know if you have any more questions or concerns, I'm only a comment away. Thank you for reaching out to the Community. Happy Friday!
