How do I create an issued check export for Positive Pay that is in .csv or .xlxs format

I want to use Positive Pay with my Bank but they require an issued check list that contains Payee Name, Check Number and Check Amount in the file. Also the Payee Name on the check must match the payee name on the report exactly for the Positive Pay Payee Match feature to work. The export file must be in a comma separated value or excel format.

I'll be happy to help export your list of checks, @Carol308!

Let's pull up and customize one of the transaction detail reports to see a list of check and export the file. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Under Accountant & Taxes, select Transaction Detail by Account.
  3. Select Customize Report.
  4. On the COLUMNS menu, put a check on the NumName, and Amount selection only.
  5. Below the Filters tab, select Account and Transaction Type.
  6. Choose the bank account used for each payroll check under the Account menu.
  7. Select Check on the Transaction Type selection.
  8. Click OK.

Here's the articles you can read to learn more about customizing and exporting your report:

I've also included this reference helpful with the steps needed to identify how stable is your business's financial status: Create and Manage Reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

@JonpriL

Are the names on the transaction report going to exactly match what is printed on checks as the OP states is required? Hint: The answer is No.

QuickBooks can't create such a file. However, it can be done using our BRC PositivePay file Creator - QB Desktop , which integrates with QuickBooks. It supports well over 100 bank file formats, and we're adding additional banks on request. We can usually add your bank within a couple of days. The tool also supports custom formats for simpler bank requirements.
