Hi there, @davidkirkham.
I can help walk you through the steps on how to review your payroll in QuickBooks Online before processing payments.
You can review your employee's payroll by clicking the Preview payroll. If you want to modify a specific check, select the Edit icon next to the check's net pay, then hit OK.
If you want to see the breakdown of each of your employees, click the Review details link on the bottom part of the page.
See the screenshots below for your reference:
Once done submitting the payroll, you can always access, print, or export different payroll reports by going to the Reports tab located on the bottom left. You can also customize the reports to see the specific details. For the detailed steps, check out this article: Run payroll reports.
For future reference, please browse through this article: Get started with Payroll. This link contains steps on how to manage employees, pay taxes, tax forms, etc.
Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions about this or anything else QuickBooks related. Have a wonderful weekend.
Could you show me where the Preview Payroll button is ?
Thanks
I'm here to show you where you can find the Preview Payroll button in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @davidkirkham. This way, you can effectively manage your employees and initiate a payroll payment accordingly.
The Preview Payroll button is located in the lower-right corner on the Run Payroll page. You'll be able to view the said button before you submit your payroll. This way, you'll be given the time to review and edit any necessary details in your employees' paychecks. Let me guide you how.
I've attached screenshots below for your reference.
After selecting the Preview payroll button, you'll be routed to the Review and Submit page to double-check the payroll. Once everything is all set, you can select the Submit payroll button to create your employees' paychecks and finish the process.
Once done, you can pull up a payroll report (i.e. Payroll Tax Liability). This way, you'll be able to check how much payroll tax you need to pay and already paid. For the complete list of payroll reports available in QBO, kindly check out this article: Run payroll reports. It contains the definition of each report and how to mark them as favorite to name a few.
Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help. Take care always.
How do we preview payroll in the desktop version? I don't see those same areas/buttons. Thank you,
The steps and user interface in QuickBooks Desktop are a little different from the online version, faysavage.
This is the reason why you're not seeing the same buttons or sections. No worries, I'll share the steps in how to preview the payroll information before creating the paychecks. Here's how:
