How do you adjust payroll tax due for electronic payment in QuickBooks Online

Hello sdm81153,

 

In compliance with the IRS and the states, QuickBooks doesn't have an option to edit the payroll tax liability manually. You'll need to review the payroll settings. It could be that:

  • you have an incorrect payroll tax payment schedule
  • tax deadline were changed due to COVID-19
  • you have an incorrect tax deposit frequencies

Here's how to review the payroll tax payment schedule:

  1. Click Taxes on the left menu and go to the Payroll Tax tab.
  2. Click the link Edit your tax setup.
  3. Under the Federal Tax Information, you should see the Filing & Deposit Requirements.
  4. Click Change or add a new schedule.
  5. Look for your old tax deposit schedule and click Delete
  6. Select the new filing and deposit schedule, and select an effective date.
  7. Click OK.

You can also review your state withholding tax deposit frequencies for you to file and pay correctly.
